Sad. Very very very sad...

you're like stars
Connor's therapist had been sick the entire time we've known her.. She had colon cancer, she called it the wolverine strain.. it would mutate and just continue popping up in other areas of her body. she went through so many rounds of chemo and surgeries and it just sucked. Many months back she took a dramatic turn for the worse.. She couldn't work any more, but we stayed in contact via text and phone. This woman is truly the strongest, most wonderful woman I've ever met. She's the only one to have ever made an impact on connor, and the only one who really understood my side and my struggles in dealing with everything kiddo has gone through.

She had been given six months.. I'd check in on her every week or two.. About a month ago her activity suddenly stopped. She wasn't checking in online, and she was sporadic in responding to texts. 2.5 weeks ago, I sent her a text again and never got a response.

Yesterday, a very sad empty feeling came over me.. and I searched out her daughters on facebook. I knew what it meant.. I don't mean to sound crazy.. but I feel like I had a deep connection with her and I knew.. I knew before I saw it.. She passed away last night.

The world lost an amazing woman and I'm heartbroken. The last time I had talked to her I had gotten upset. I told her it wasn't fair that she was being taken away... she told me that was just life and she had made peace with it. She had come to terms with her fate a long while back.. She knew this cancer was not going to let her win. She has touched so many lives, I remember her being angry that she was dying.. and knowing she was going to die before Connor was 100% ok... not that she was dying.. Angry because she knew she wouldn't be able to help him anymore. She was truly special.

Oh, Lauren... I'm sooo sorry for your loss, she sounded like a remarkable woman... my heart cries with you...

Oh Lauren I'm so sorry for yours and Connor's loss. She sounds like she was a truly special lady. I'll keep you both and her family in my thoughts.

Crying. So sorry, La. It stinks that such wonderful people have to leave this life so early. :(

I'm so sorry for all involved. The fact that she had such a positive impact means her legacy will live on in multiple ways, I'm glad to hear she was at peace. I'm sad for you and Connor, and her family.

I'm so sorry. I hate cancer so much. :(

Have you reached out to her daughter? You could copy and paste this post even and I'm sure she would appreciate knowing what a difference her mom made in your life. It's stories like this that really truly help families get through all the pain.

I did :] I sent one of her daughters a message & friend request on fb. She added me & read the message. I just wanted to let her know how much her mom meant to us.

I am so sorry La, it breaks my heart to hear about all these wonderful souls going way too early due to the cancer monster.

I'm so sorry! Hoping all your memories will comfort you - she sounds like a truly wonderful woman.

Cancer really sucks.
