I am so sore!

you're like stars
I've been only going to the gym sporadically because I get super super discouraged with my non compliant legs.. I realized the reason for my discouragement however was that I keep just trying to run or bike or whatever cardio like I used to and my body doesn't work anymore LOL. I'd been avoiding the "gym bro" area (aka the weight area :p ) because. well. men make me uncomfortable.. I used to go to a different gym with my friend 2 years ago though and LOVED loved the weight area and decided to give it a whack yesterday.

ow.
ow.

OW. LOL I just had trouble lifting my arms into the usual position i drive my CAR in. I think I overdid it hahaha..
but gosh. I enjoyed it so much more than my failed cardio efforts. I stayed on that side of the gym for almost an hour yesterday and it was SO much more rewarding. I got to prove to myself that my legs are stronger than I give them credit for.. and that I just need to go about things differently. I mean. HELLO. obviously doing weights etc is only going to HELP strengthen my gimp legs so I CAN do the other stuff again :p DUR! lol

There were only a few other woman and one old guy in the gym so I felt way better too-- I need to make sure I keep going around noon, no one there! Well. Not today. If i try to lift my arms above my head again they're bound to fall off :p

Does your gym have a swimming pool, la? It's great for non-weight bearing exercise that really strengthens your whole body!

it does! jacobs been trying to convince me to go swimming. i really need to get in there. he wants me to join the "fat old ladies jumping" class though. i refuse :p i'll just swim thank you lol

But just think how young and skinny you'd feel surrounded by the fat old ladies. ; )

I'm so glad you've found something that's working for you! Keep up the good work!

hey - I'm in the "fat old ladies jumping class"... :D I'm got 45 years on most of them there... haha Of course it sucks that some of the 80 year olds are more flexible than I am...

My gym has other water classes than the typical water aerobic classes... like they do zumba in the water (way easier than on land, but just as challenging), H2O boot camp, water running, yoga, Pilates, etc... they draw a more younger crowd... maybe your has similar classes?

I love the weightroom... but haven't done it in a few years - I used to go with hubby before work... now I have twink and have to work around his schedule.

boyOboy. i hear ya, Hun. my Hubster is on a new tear... "100 push ups a day in 6 weeks". last night was just the diagnostic [to see how far down on the pathetic meter you are].... and this morning my arms are crying everytime i have to lift/carry my two year old. oh the joy. lol.

but it's worth it in the end right?! and tomorrow you'll feel less sore and more invigorated... right?? please tell me i'm right. *snort

I love that sore feeling. Means I actually pushed my body :) I know some people think that's weird - but I LOVE it! LOL

Could you go in today and work a different part of your body? Abs? Glutes? Anything other then your arms?

I've got to ease into it. i kept starting and stopping going to the gym because i'd go every day and then be broken for a week or one time was two weeks o_O. I did leg work yesterday too anyway, so my butt hurts too ^__^ I'll go again tomorrow :]

Hehe...I hired a personal trainer just to tailor a workout for me a few years ago and she really wanted me to water aerobics! I've never been able to go the gym regularly but it seems fun :) I hate the weight room for the same reason and kind of liked the idea of hanging out with a bunch of older ladies hehe.

My sister had 5 kids in three year intervals and decided she really wanted to lose her extra weight after her last kid. Her regimine is a combination of swimming and running (no weights) and she went from a size 12 to a size 6 (maybe even smaller)--she looks better now than in highschool! I've noticed too that she still eats the same foods, but her portions are way more appropriate now. It wasn't until she got that under control that the weight just started peeling off.

Her success reminds me of a book I read, Why French Women Don't Get Fat...it's sooo good. Food is a big part of my life so I really identify with the indulgent food culture I read about in the book rather than the diet culture we're bombarded with as women on a daily basis. I was in the checkout line yesterday and saw a headline that read, Jenifer Aniston gained 17 pounds. It's really insane.

I'm a weight room addict. I don't mind the boys at all. And let me tell you some of them are so funny. To see them picking up the little 10 lbers as I go for my 15-20-25ers cracks me up. I love running outside more than inside this year. The sore feeling is the best. I divide it up. Shoulders/chest one day, arms/abs another legs/glutes another, and back another. I can't go more than 2 days without hitting the gym or I get so restless now. I end up like a coke head tweaking.... I need my fix!
