Lets talk finances.

We both sit down every month and discuss budget planning and where we're at as far as investing goals, etc. I do all the leg work, though, including the tracking, research and actual bill paying.

We are weird and have separate bank accounts, since we both have our own business. He pays the day to day bills and we discuss when something large comes up that I need to purchase.

Mostly the same as Jenn, although he's the one who does the investing.

DH was a government budget analyst for years, and he wants all accounts, checkbooks, etc. kept to his exacting standards. So he does it all and pays the bills, otherwise there'd never be peace here, LOL. Within the weekly/monthly budget I make most of the purchasing decisions and do most of the spending, and we make all big decisions together. We each also have a small account of our own for any personal spending, like my scrapbooking.

I pay MOST bills and manage the money. I tell him how much he can spend, even though he makes the money!!

The only bills he handles are the water bill, Best Buy if we owe anything and the ones through ATT (and those are direct withdrawl, LOL)

DH's checking was a WRECK when we got married....I took that over immediately otherwise there would have been a divorce!!!

DH handles 98% of it. I just help out by putting stuff in the mail, and following the budget. :)

me. general budget we both decide, but I handle all the day to day and normal stuff. It's simply easier because we never know when he'll be around to deal with bills and such

What's a budget? I pay all the bills and make all the money and let my trophy husband buy some things when we can. LOL!

All of our bills are automatic draft and we both check our accounts online often, so there isn't a whole lot of "budgeting" around here.

DH does it all... and tells me when it's time to wrangle in the spending... :D :o I'm not totally oblivious to the bills and budgets... I know what is going on and if I have questions, I know exactly where to find the paperwork. Hubby wants to do the money side... paying the bills and investing... which is fine by me.

We both do. We have separate accounts as well. He pays the mortgage, his CC, and car payment. I pay the rest. We discuss big purchases together.

I pretty much do. I have since he went on active duty with the Army. With deployments and being gone so often it just makes sense that I manage it all. We discuss the big things, but I handle all of the day to day stuff.

I do the budget and pay all the bills. Most bills are scheduled to pay anyway. Rest of them are paid online also, so not much work there.

I'm kind of relieved to know that there are other couples that have separate accounts.

Our bills are split since we have separate accounts so we are both involved.

Here it is 100% a joint effort. We both make all of the decisions together. When he first moved to Kansas I had an established account so I put his name on everything. We've had joint accounts and made all decisions together since the day we moved in together (which was almost 4 years before we got married).

We set the budget together. I do grocery shopping most of the time and use coupons as often as I can to help the budget stretch farther. We discuss any sort of purchase over $40.

We have separate accounts in or house too. We each have certain bills/responsibilities we take care of - ex. he pays car insurance, I buy all SirStinkbug's supplies etc. We split the mortgage. Big purchases we discuss together. It just sort of worked out this way since we were high school sweethearts and have been a couple forever!

Snort.

He's the one going back to school to get a Master's in Accounting & wants to be a CPA, but he's always shocked at whatever the amount of $$ is in the bank account and made a budget 3 months ago that he has yet to sit down and show me.

He pays the utility bills and his phone. I pay the rent, my phone, and the Internet. I also buy all the groceries and most of the clothes. It all comes from one account, though.

We have one account, I get stuck making sure everything gets paid. Neither one of us likes dealing with it. Neither one of us really spends money outside of bills without the other being aware. I give him a periodic heads up or complaint about what's up, he listens LOL

I do it all here..he does ask me when he can buy things though

we make the big purchase decisions together

Budget? What budget? One of the big reasons I wanted a divorce is that he spends money randomly on stuff he wants without any consultation whatsoever... and since I make the majority of the money, this is a problem. Also, I found out a while back that when he got his most recent job, after having been laid off and on unemployment previously, that he opened up a separate account and was putting $100 per paycheck into it, meanwhile telling me that this new job pays less than what he got on unemployment. Lovely, huh?

When we first got married, I paid the bills. After baby #2 came, I went insane, so hubby took it over for a while. I'm back to handling those kinds of things now, but honestly, almost all of our bills are paid automatically through our bank account, so there isn't a lot to it.

We have a very loose budget. Mostly, we just talk about stuff as it comes along. DH is the main bread winner around here, but I make a little money here and there on the side. That money is mostly mine to buy clothes or odds and ends that I want. But, I'm also saving some of that money to get some things that we've been wanting for a while (i.e., a new refrigerator). :)

Been divorced for 10 years so it's obviously me. Before that, as we were both CPA's we alternated being the one paying the bills. We would do it about 2 - 3 years then switch off. We had one account, both were savers vs spenders so really didn't have any problems. It was a little tough when I stayed home with the kids but when we both worked there weren't any real issues with money.

Now, I spend about an hour every Sunday morning tracking credit card purchases etc so that I know where my money is going. Seriously, with two kids in college you'd think I'd KNOW where it was going. As long as I look at it every week, I feel like I have a handle on it and don't stress. Money was my big stress after he left as he made over twice what I did.

I do it - hubby is a spender, I'm a saver. We have our own accounts and one joint account for groceries etc, and one saving account that only I can access!! Most of our bills are direct debit so it's not that much of a stress

The hubs does most of the heavy lifting--budgeting, investments, rent--while I handle the other bills like utilities, internet, etc. I am horrible at saving, which is why he handles it.

I'm only skilled at shopping, lol.

Since it is just me, I earn it and spend it. Fortunately I am not a big spender cause I'm not a big earner either. Lol. I do support a family of three comfortably and that is a blessing.

I'm the finance person in our house. DH knows everything... we talk about big purchases.

We weren't always good with our money... but Dave Ramsey helped... and at the same time - we grew up. We lost a lot from the sale of our previous condo... but made out ok in the long run because we had been working together and learned a lot.
