STUPID?

Urban Decay eyeliner! I actually had to google how to "sharpen" it because it looked plastic. I tried twisting it and turning it...then I felt like I got ripped off with just a sample size...and finally I looked it up. :huh:

Surprise...it's like a pencil. LOL! I really felt like such an idiot.
 
well.. most eyeliners make me feel stupid because no matter what I can't apply them correctly :) LOL
 
Are we talking about beauty products in particular? I'm another vote for eyeliner. Still trying to figure out how to make a d@mn cat eye, lol. All the tutorials make it look so easy!

Otherwise, when I first got iTunes (on a PC laptop) it took me an hour and a half to figure out playlists. My Windows-trained self kept right-clicking and right-clicking on songs and then I accidentally dragged one to a list and BAM! that's when I got it. *headdesk*

Round the Clock Waterproof Eyeliner by Bare Escentuals is the same way. I bought it before looking at the reviews. Then I read them (it's CRAPPY btw) and they kept mentioning sharpening and it looked plastic! LOL
 
I have a brow pencil I haven't used in months because I have no idea how to make more of it come up... googling never occurred to me. lol
 
I can't use pencil eyeliner.... every time I mess it up and smudge it all over the place.

I can use liquid eyeliner. It dries and I don't get it all over. Go figure....




now... those contraptions to curl your eyelashes... those make me feel stupid. My mom tried showing me years ago... no go there!

Urban Decay eyeliner is my absolute favorite ever! A silly for me, it took me like 3 Birchboxes to figure out they include a card explaining what each thing is. I had no clue what some of the products were and had to google them or ask people before.
 
Love it! Now I don't feel so alone in this. And I totally agree with the eyelash curler too Jenn. I think I just don't have enough lashes for it to curl. :)
 
Eye shadow. I have huge eyes and lids - and I just can't get it right. So I do without and just wear eyeliner (on top lids only) and mascara. I love the look of eyeshadow though!
 
Round brushes. I have NEVER been able to get a round brush and a blow dryer to play nicely together. I just buy curling irons with really large barrels cause I can't figure out a round brush to save my life.

On the other hand, I could not get by without my eyelash curler. :D
 
not a product, but a technique. i can't french braid to save my life and of course now there are these amazing hairstyles all over pinterest and i can't do any of them. for some reason my fingers won't move that way. definitely makes me feel like an idiot!
 
bexy...I'm so jealous of all the braiding out there too. I have shorter hair so I really just want to be able to put a little braid in the front and I can't even do that.

i'm not sure what shades you've tried, but big eyes usually goes really well with nudes and a cat eye

i've got big eyes (and really oily lids) myself, so i have to use a lid primer for it to stay fresh all day. right now i'm using photo finish lid primer by smashbox and it's freaking awesome.

Bare Minerals foundation. I feel like I either apply too light or too heavy. I really wish it worked for me. :/ I think I have watched every YouTube video out there in hopes to answer or help me.

Maybe that's' my problem? A lot of my shadows are darker. I'll have to give the more neutral colors a go :) Thanks for sharing what works for you!!
 
Know what else makes me feel old that isn't makeup?

things that make me feel dumb: lipstick, liquid eyeliner, eyelash curler, cream blush
 
I hate makeup and it hates me so I try not to wear it unless I am going some place fancy with the DH.
 
I have no issues with makeup. The Clinique counter is my friend. If you want to wear makeup and don't know how to do it, just go to a makeup counter and have a makeover. It may cost a bit, but they will hook you up.

Technology is what makes me feel stupid-photoshop, ACDSee, Lightroom, etc. Just when I think I've got it down, they go and change it up. And I feel like for some techniques I constantly have to go back and watch tutorials. Sometimes that stuff just won't stick in my brain.

try using a brush? I switched to a brush from the foam applicator things and it works so much better

I feel stupid that my 14 yo had to teach me how to put on foundation with a brush and other makeup tips. I have to say though - we went to Sephora and had them do my makeup and I liked what my daughter came up with a lot better. (Plus I can actually afford it).

I have a hard time with technology too - I have to call my husband to be able to watch a movie because I can't figure out what devices go to what in this house.
 
I just had one..............
I couldn't figure out how to open a dang .rar file. I had to call my younger brother :) I felt like an idiot as he was trying to walk me through it. Luckily he's the sweetest and totally patient!!
