2013 Official Color of the Year

The 2013 official color of the year is...........

I'm not a fan of green....especially Emerald. :glare:


What do you think of the "official" color of the year?
 
Did you guys go to the Pantone website? They have a slideshow of images with the color used in "real life" here: http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21055&from=hp

I wasn't sold on it from the swatch but I like it a lot in the images, especially mixed with the blues and yellows. But then green is one of my favorite colors. Really I'm just glad to see it's not pink again, haha.

Yeah, the images in on the site is what made me like it too - there are lots of yummy images there.
 
ooh - i like it :) i'm in a green phase now - haha. but, i'm not sure what color i think of when i hear emerald - but i like most greens that aren't too dark and muddy (e.g., i don't like forest green).

but i like all the images they have linked :)
 
I don't mind the color, but like others have said that doesn't say "emerald" to me. :) Maybe Pantone needs to calibrate their monitors? :p
 
I loved tangerine. Bought a couple of shirts this year in it. Guess I will be buying some (actual) emerald shirts this year. :) I like emerald. Its a not a favorite, but I like it.

Yes, this. I didn't even know there was a color of the year. I could see picking one after the fact (ie, this was 2013's most popular color), but it seems silly to appoint a color to be the color of the year.
 
I love how it's called emerald, but the actual emerald shown is a completely different color than the Pantone color. lolol

I love all greens including this one. I, too, think the name is off.

They do color forecasting several times a year. Emerald was part of the Spring 2013 forecast. I always feel like it's a chicken vs egg debate - is the color popular because they pick it or was it already going to be popular so they picked it? :D
 
The swatch looks greenish bluish to me, but the photos aren't particularly "emerald" either. More like, well, just GREEN. What I think of when I hear the word green. I like it!
