Anyone reading Dungeon Crawler Carl?

I'm not usually one to jump on the book bandwagon after Twilight, LOL! At least not right away, but I've been seeing this everywhere, our digital library didn't have the audiobooks, so I just bought a physical copy.

I'm only about 40 pages in, but it's crazy! LOL! I think my husband is going to read it when I'm done.

I'm just curious if anyone else is reading these or has read them.

I listened to the audiobook, and it was really fun. However, although I enjoyed it, I didn’t enjoy it enough to listen to the second book.

Good to know! It is a long series, and usually I don’t like a series, too much commitment.

I’ve been listening to the Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter, and they’re great, I’m on book 7, but there are 12. Ugh! I read the first one because they didn’t have it to listen to, which totally bummed me out, 😂

I really have to be in the mood for a physical book, but I adore an audiobook.

I'm just over halfway through it, I'm enjoying it, but I'm not running through it as quickly as I'd hoped.

I half read it and half listened to it. The audio made it more enjoyable. I am not in a rush to read the next in the series but I eventually would like to.

I binge-listened to all 7 books over the past month while sewing for my stepdaughter's wedding. They get crazier as you go on, and I can't wait for book 8!

I agree with Krista - the narration adds a dimension to the story that I don't think you can get simply with the written word. I found myself laughing out loud repeatedly, much to the confusion of my husband working in the other room. :)

I can absolutely see enjoying the audiobooks more, but I'm cheap, LOL! Our library and hoopla don't have the audio versions, so at least the physical copies I can pass those to DH and others. He will not listen to the audiobook.

I had a bunch of Audible credits stacked up that I wanted to clear out so I could take a break from my subscription. So, I bought the first book and had so much fun listening to it - so funny and clever. Now, I wish I had devoted more of the credits to getting other books! I'm hoping my library may get some of them eventually?

Vanessa, if you're interested in giving it a try, download the app by Soundbooth - that's the company that recorded the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. They re-recorded it in an even more immersive version and there's several hours of it available for free in their app. Might be a fun way for you to try it out!

I am totally late to this thread but I started reading Carl when it very first came out and wasn't popular yet... I am obsessed!! I am not usually drawn to this style of book but the level at which I am entertained is so high that I was hooked from the start. I read the books and listed to the audio which is so amazing. For those of you who didn't like it I am so so sad for you. LOL But Mongo is appalled. 🤣
