How fast or slow are you?

Are you a fast scrapper or a slow scrapper? Does it depend on the photos, template, or the kit you are working with? Sometimes I can scrap a page in no time, it seems, and other times I work on a page, changing and moving things and, sometimes, even discarding it and starting over. Do you have a certain time frame it usually takes you to finish a layout?

Depends.

Lately I've been preloading my templates with my photos. That is what takes the longest. Then when I go to scrap them I can get 2 done in about 75 to 90 minutes with no interruptions since I'm using the same kit for both pages and I know how I want the page to look. (The pages I've worked on recently have been for my 2024 Document Your December layouts so the whole month is coordinated).

Other times it can take me a long time if I don't have a vision of what I want to do.

I'm just like you Evelyn, sometimes I'm so fast and then on a couple that I want really special, I take my time and sometimes I even redo it.

It depends on the page.

The time I decided to turn a template into an aquarium, complete with building realistic coral reefs, took FOREVER. (I think I did 4 pages over 3 days.)

But sometimes when I'm being a little more reasonable and get in the flow, I can put together a page in about an hour.

Gosh, it can take me over an hour just to choose the photos and the kit and the template! And don't even ask about choosing fonts! It usually takes at least two hours to scrap a page, but I always finish the page I'm working on before starting a new one. Also, it's much better than the days it could take to do a page with physical supplies. The fear of cutting or sticking something wrong was real!

I wish I was a faster scrapper, there are so many wonderful goodies I've got I've still not got around to using because I'm so slow!

And work really gets in the way!

I am a very slow scrapper - I don't know how I made on the team, haha! Templates definitely speed me up, but I take a lot of time to choose papers and elements that are just right for my photos. On average, I'd say 3-4 hours to finish a layout. Sometimes less, but usually much longer.

I would say I'm a pretty fast scrapper. Often times, the supplies are something I "have" to use for CT work, so I then just try to find photos that will work- that's my most time consuming. But once I have photos- I'm pretty fast. I can easily get a element heavy layout done in an hour, simple layouts even faster!

I'm suuuppper slow! I don't think I've ever made a page in under an hour. Most are 2-2.5 hours. I just can't do clean and simple even though I like how it looks when others do it. And templates are not faster for me. I always feel the need to try every paper in every spot before I can decide what looks best.

I am a fast scrapper. a page rarely takes me longer than 30 minutes.
Very occasionally I scrap it and start again. Most times I know it's more about the photos and the stories than having the perfect embellishment or perfect shadows. My family doesn't care too much about that.

Oh my goodness! I am glacier-slow!! I overthink every element, every paper, every picture. LOL

It depends on a lot of things for me... though I'd never say that I'm a "fast" scrapper. It's rare that I can do a page in less than an hour, though over time I've gotten a little bit faster.

I can scrap faster when...
I'm "scrapping on vibes"
I have time to plan and mull things over
My photos are picked out
I can sit with the kit for a while
I am uninterrupted
I'm on a deadline

Doing live scraps has also helped me cut down on my scrapping time. I've done like four now and managed to come out with a finished page each time.

But some pages are just like epic projects that take time to slowly put together. And I'm okay with that. Not all pages are created equal - some just mean more than others and I'm totally okay with putting in the time to make them the best they can be.

... but I've also been known to totally throw out a page if it's not working for me, so if you clocked all the hours that went into certain pages I would be scared to see that number. :D

I'm a fast scrapper, I think I always have been, unless there is something I'm really dragging my feet on, but I'm really not a perfectionist when it comes to my pages.

Maybe I should be, it's more important to me to get them scrapped and printed, than to have the perfect page.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the creativity of it and I love the beautiful scrapbook kits, but I honestly want to see how quickly I can get it done and still look nice. LOL!

I am a recovering perfectionist and it’s taken me years to even start embracing this viewpoint. Done is better than perfect? ACK. lol.

The other day I read something that was like if you’re trying to stop being a perfectionist you need to stop aiming for an A+ you need to aim for a B. This feels so impossible to me!! Don’t get me wrong, I achieve B and C work all the time, but I am always, always aiming for an A+. The idea of AIMING for a B feels soooo challenging to me! But I do think it’s the direction I need to move in to achieve more and get stuck less in the perfectionist mindset that keeps me from even starting a project if I don’t think I can do it perfectly.

I'm pretty fast! I don't think to much about what I'm doing. Which is funny because sometimes I get comments that make it seem like what I did was thought about. Like love how this matches this or that...and I didn't even consider that. LOL! But sometimes I get ideas that take a while to execute, so I can be slow. But generally pretty quick, especially if it's for a challenge and rules are in place.

it depends if I have an idea in my mind that I need to get out fast, if it's a subject or challenge, I'm not sure of I'm a sloth.
