Having trouble posting to the gallery

I'm trying to post a layout to the gallery. I have many times without any issues. Anyway, it's telling me my file is too large. I flattened and saved it as a jpeg in PSE and went all the way down to the lowest it will go. No luck....Any help will be appreciated.

I’m in Photoshop here’s what I do…

Flatten the image
Resize
Image: Image size: 72dpi 700x700px
I usually run an unshared mask to crisp up the image
Then export the image using
File: Export: Save for web (legacy)
Here I adjust the quality % until I’m under 500 (you can see the size in the lower left corner under JPEG)

Maybe someone else knows if there’s a visual tutorial for this?

If I run into this, I will "stamp" the top layer, which creates a flatterned versiuon, but since it's a layer on top of the layers, I don't accidentally save my work flattened. Because I have in the past.

To stamp: press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E (Windows) or Shift+Command+Option+E (Mac). Then I drag the layer to a new document so it's the only thing there. Then I follow the rest of Karli's instructions - saving for web.
