Amazon photo with prime

I just had to share. I subscribe to Amazon Prime, and one of the benefits is photo storage. I take pictures with my phone 99% of the time, and with the Amazon Photo app, my photos get uploaded. All other pictures not on my phone I upload via my desktop.

Today, I wanted to start getting my August photos on my desktop for scrapping, so I opened the app on my phone and received a message that I can now search my photos through AI. I used one of their prompts, which was graduation, and I got years' worth of graduation photos that I did not remember.

This will be so helpful when you want to scrap an event and don't remember where you saved it, what month, etc.

Oh wow.... how awesome! I have Prime too, but have never used the photo storage... I need to get on that!

I have Prime and know about the photo storage. I don't think I have my phone enabled for syncing to it though. How do you do that? I have the photos in Prime come up on my tv randomly. Brain freeze moment, I can't remember the proper name, but when the tv goes from tv but before sleep, you can choose for the tv to display random photos from Prime. Not sure if that is because I have a Fire tv or not though. I like the randomness of what comes up and it does provoke some conversations with my daughter when we're sat in the lounge together.

You need to get the amazon photo app on your phone

That is awesome that you can have your photos show up on your TV. I have Prime and will have to check that out!

I also think it’s great that they can develop photos. They do a great job and the price was great.

I use Google Photos, and if I can't find a photo in Lightroom, like a particular event or person that I've tagged, then I'll go to the Google Photos app and it will often find photos for me.

I do also have Excel Sheets for each year that track the date along with the event and/or person. I add layout images into the sheet so I'm able to see what I have left to scrap. I also use color labels in Lightroom to mark my photos that I've scrapped.

I can see having to pay more for Google Photos though, so I think I should really investigate Prime. We already subscribe, so it's a benefit I'm not taking advantage of.

Honestly, I don't think I will unsubscribe from Prime just for the photo storage. My children’s and grandchildren’s pictures mean so much to me, and I am so happy I have them backed up. I, of course, should also back up my scrap documents.

Oh I LOVE the new search feature!!!
I can type in colors, places, events, anything!
I've had prime for years and the photo storge backup is great, and you can even upload photos from years and years ago. I make alot of albums and everyone on our family plan (including my Mom) has the app to make sure we have the photos backed up.

That's awesome they've added the search function to amazon photos. Like Cheryl, I've used google photos for that for years- so nice to try to find that specific photo when you can't remember the details! lol

I've also deliberated stopping my Prime subscription as I don't shop with Amazon much except for Christmas. I do watch quite a few of the tv shows and movies though and take advantage of the free Kindle book each month as well as the lending library, all of which I could do without BUT I really like the benefit of the photo back up!

LOVE Prime Photo storage!! I've been using it for years! Love that my phone photos and desktop sync up daily. But my most fave features are the search ones, by day and year and by people. I am always reminding friends n family that if you already pay for Prime backing up photos is included.

Please please please make sure they are backed up somewhere besides just Amazon! I've read so many horror stories of people losing photos because they were only backed up to Amazon and something went wrong.

I've been using it for 2 years, it is SO convenient. Should've posted it here before. Love the way you can filter on people, places and things. It's slightly less accurate than Google Photos but way cheaper and unlimited!

Agree with this!

I have all my photos backed up to several external hard drives and iDrive online backup. With my new phone being easy to use to take photos, those are backed up to Google Photos, my computer, the external hard drives and iDrive online backup.

Never trust just having them in one place. I've even read horror stories about people losing their whole photo catalog from their iCloud backup and phone.
