Your neck of the woods ...

In Wisconsin... so same weather... again another winter where I'm like "why the heck do I live here..." I hate the cold... I don't like the super sunny days where it looks like it's nice but the air hurts your face.

I'm on the opposite side of the world from you guys and every time it's super cold there, it's always super hot here (the opposite :D)

this weekend, it's between 35-37'C (it's like 95-100'F) and I hate it
I love the cold weather more than the hot, I can layer and wear more when it's cold but when it's hot, I can't peel of my skin, lol :D

Hmmm. I despise being cold - I can deal with being warm (or hot) much better!

We're going to have a hard freeze this week which is dangerous around here (Louisiana). All the city pipes are going to burst and we're going to be without city water for days and then a boil order for several more days. It happens every time. Sigh. Thankfully our house pipes have always been ok because Michael wraps the outside ones well and we keep heaters on all of them inside and leave them running a little. Praying that holds true this time as well.

I'm praying we don't have ice or snow this time. It's looking like most of the precipitation may actually go south of us with this one.

UGH. So sorry Tracie! Sending lots of good vibes that pipes don't burst!! Such a hassle!

Like Eve, we're in the middle of summer here. It doesn't get as hot in New Zealand as it does in Australia, but it's hot enough for me.

The temperature has been between 23-26C (73-79F) the last few days, which means it's lovely in the shade, but anything over 25C and you don't want to be in the sun too long or it's burning. The ozone layer over New Zealand is pretty thin, so the UV risk is high. Even though Aussie temps are much higher, I feel we burn easier in NZ at lower temperatures. 30C (86F) is suuuuuper hot when you're in NZ, but quite bearable in Australia. So weird. It's a drier heat there, and more humid here.

73 to 79 degrees sounds heavenly! I wish we had that temp here all year round!

We're prepping for bad weather here in coastal Georgia too. Growing up in Northern WI a little snow, or even freezing rain, doesn't scare me but southerns in said weather scares the daylights out of me! We're supposed to get freezing rain and possibly even snow in Savannah so we've made all our preparations and I've already warned my kids I will be chauffeuring them anywhere we absolutely must go (like our cardiologist and opthamologist appoints we wait months for. Darn it, both in the same week! ) I just hope we don't lose power like they're predicting! It's way too cold for that right now!

It is! I hate it. Thankfully we have a countertop filter that gets all the nasties out, so when there's a boil order we don't have to do that. It's gotten us through FIVE city-wide boil orders with no problems.

Tracie, did I hear on the news that you are under a blizzard warning today?!?! :crying:

Indiana is cold. We are in the single digits with a biting wind. This morning as I walked from my car to building at work, my nose hairs froze. That is how you know it is too cold to be out. LOL

As much as I wanted to go to my doctor's appointment today (90 minutes away from my house), I called yesterday to see if I could reschedule due to the extreme cold. They said no problem and I can get in on the 31st.

My cousin told me today that their schools are closed so she is keeping the granddaughters so their dad can still go to work (father has full custody). So it all worked out for the best.

My new glasses came in today but as much as I want them so I can see better, I'm not going out in this cold (around -13 feels like temps) to get them. Maybe tomorrow afternoon but might even wait until Thursday.

I just read that on the news - texas and louisiana. that's scary!

where I live we have the infrastructure and "snow fairies" to help us handle all the snow.. I can't even imagine living somewhere where people don't have the proper things to deal with it.

Very scary for sure!! And Cheryl (FDD) just posted on FB that she's cozy in Florida where they are calling for 3 inches of snow! Yipes!!

I received an automated call and text about winter weather advisory saying snow is expected today at 5pm. We don't really get snow here, so I think it might just be flurries.

Here in southwest Idaho, we usually have a fairly cold winter weather with some snow. Our temps up until this week have been 40s for high & 20s for low, but they are now highs around freezing and lows in the teens. Very little snow so far this season. I am just thankful we have had sunshine lately. Our area typically gets inversions (gray & overcast weather with bad air quality that can last 2-3 weeks) in January and February. We've dodged that bullet so far. Hope you gals with the really cold weather stay safe!

I'm a native Floridian, so I know about extreme heat and hurricanes and tropical storms, but I don't know about cold and snow. We actually got 6 inches, and in some places 7 inches. Still, it's twice what they were calling for at 3 inches.

Oh wow! It's been unseasonable down here but nothing like that. Your cottage looks like a winter wonderland!

Glad the weather has been decent in SW UT! It can be overcast here in NO IL for weeks at a time (though no issue w/ air quality) - the sun sure does make winter not seem quite so bad! I'm glad you're seeing it more often this year!

Eastern PA here and cold as heck... we were in Nashville for 5 days and it was also bitter cold. We actually turned water off to our house while we were away ... I was terrified of a busted water pipe... and we got more snow at home while we were away.

Well, Alabama had Tuesday and Wednesday declared as a "state of emergency!". We had some freezing temps. We got flurries where I am but just 30 minutes south of us got a couple inches of snow and bad ice on the roads so they had cause for concern! My kids had fun with the flurries though so it was better than nothing!
