I'm curious!! What are you reading right now? What have you read recently that you really loved?

I just started Love's Reckoning by Laura Frantz. It's a free one on Audible, and I have no idea what to expect!

I'm also starting Voice Like a Hyacinth by Mallory Pearson (Amazon first reads pick).

I just finished The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young, which I really loved so much. I wish there was a second book...

I also have recently read:
Appetite for Innocence by Lucinda Berry - disturbing, but pretty good
Amish Promises - nice wholesome story - I love Amish fiction!
Gray After Dark - from Amazon first reads - loved it.
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah - SO good
 
I was in a bit of a reading slump last year but the first book I read (listened to) this year was I hope this finds you well by Natalie Sue - I liked it!

I'm reading a fluffy romance now - Beg, Borrow or Steal by Sarah Adams (I like her books - this is the 3rd on in a series) I don't think I like this one as much as the other 2 though)

I really liked the unmaking of june farrow too! The author released a brand new book last week that I want to read - A Sea of Unspoken Things. The Unmaking of June Farrow is the only book of hers that I have read so far.

I deleted a bunch of distracting apps today and I'm hoping I can focus more on reading this year - I think my attention span needs a reset.
 
I'm listening to Lights Out by Navessa Allen on Audible right now. If you don't like smut, you won't like this. :D
 
I just got off the Libby waiting list for If it Bleeds by Stephen King. I’ve been working my way through the Holly Gibney arch- actually I accidentally read them out of order and had to go back and start from the beginning. Anyway, for some reason If it Bleeds had like an 18 week wait, so I’ve been patiently anticipating its arrival.

I also have Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, which was suggested to me recently. In my queue I have The Fifth Season, Where He Can’t Find You, and Do Not Open. I’m also working on a couple of cozy mystery series at the moment. At any given time I’m usually listening to 2-3 books. My goal for 2025 is 156 books.

Just like with scrapbooking, I find that reading challenges help me get out of a slump. I’ve done the A-Z challenge, Around the USA, and last year started a book club- which helped with my motivation as well.

I know I NEED to do this, but I haven’t been able to go through with it!! How did you manage??
 
Oh always my favorite threads!

I'm currently listening to After the Ocean by Lauren E. Rico.

Yesterday, I just finished The Holiday Honeymoon Switch by Julia McKay (from my fluffy christmas reading binge that just came available!) Eh- 3 stars. It was a likeable, quick easy read. Last Friday I finished The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern by Lynda Cohen Loigman & really loved it!

The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young has been on my TBR list for awhile- I'm hoping the loan comes up soon on Libby! I'll have to look up her new one! I've found I can request them from the library even before release & then I dont have to wait as long!

I hear you on the distractions!! I have the same issue.

I'll definitely have to grab A Sea of Unspoken Things!! So far I'm really a fan of her writing!
 
I’m currently reading The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, and I have to say, I’m completely hooked, it’s so hard to put down! I just finished The Couple at Number 9 by Claire Douglas, and wow, I absolutely loved it. The twists and turns had me guessing the whole time!

Mystery and crime books are definitely my happy place :). Last year, I read The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry, and honestly, it became one of my absolute favorites of the year. It’s such a heavy read, but it’s written so well and packed with incredible twists, it had everything I love in a book.

This year, I’m restarting my goal of reading all of Stephen King’s books in chronological order. I’ve read quite a few of his works out of order, but now I’m determined to get back on track! Firestarter is next up on my list for this month, and I’m really looking forward to diving in.

I finished this one for our book club and it was so great! A bit erotic but mostly about a woman in her perimenopause.

That was me last year. Well, after I devoured the entirety of The Dark Tower as fast as the library could get them to me.

I'm currently tearing through the Lady Sherlock series by Sherry Thomas. I'm not sure what my next series to tackle is going to be but I love being able to read the entire thing in one go and just... know how things end, I guess.
 
This has been a good month for me, book-wise, as two of my favorite trilogies are releasing the 3rd book in their series. Happy Birthday to me!

I've already finished Good Boys 3: The Visionary by Jeremy Robinson. It was silly fun, but with some surprisingly good character development.



And I've got just 2 more days to wait until Onyx Storm is released. The whole Empyrean series has been majorly kick-@$$, with strong female characters (and some really hot smut!).



If you like audiobooks, you should definitely give the Dramatized Adaptations of this series a try. It's absolutely worth the extra credit (each book is split into 2, so it takes 2 credits for the full story) - the voice performances and sound effects are crazy immersive.

I'm about halfway through Spin by Robert Charles Wilson. It's been good so far, but it's far closer to hard sci-fi than fantasy. Heavy on the "science".

Next in my queue are The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, Verity by Colleen Hoover, Prime, the first in the Jack Sigler series by Jeremy Robinson, The In Between by Michael Landweber, and books 15-18 in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (Million Dollar Demon, Trouble with the Cursed, Demons of Good and Evil, and Demon's Bluff).

And I've got books 8-13 of the IncCryptid series by Seanan McGuire that I've bought but not yet listened to: That Ain't Witchcraft, Imaginary Numbers, Calculated Risks, Spelunking Through Hell, Backpacking Through Bedlam, and Aftermarket Afterlife. I got distracted after I finished book 7 - I think that's when I decided to listen to the entire Ender's Game series of prequels and sequels - and I need to pick them up again.

And Silver and Lead, the 19th in the October Daye series by Seanan McGuire, isn't coming out until the end of September, but that gives me plenty of time to re-listen to the entire series. It's one of my favorites.

I listened to Book 2 and didn't like it as much as Book 1 so I am committed to reading this one even though audiobooks fit better in my life right now.

I'm not a big fan of Rebecca Soler, the narrator for the audiobooks, but I absolutely LOVE the dramatized versions. With a full cast, it's like listening to a movie. Unfortunately, they don't release for several months after the book comes out, so I'll listen to Soler's narration to find out what happens in the story ... and then I'll pick up the dramatized versions to listen and re-listen later.

I love to read, but audiobooks are the best fit for my life right now. It gives me something to do when I have a migraine and have to lie in the dark, when my vision is a wreck. It also lets me make the most of my functional time, because I can consume a book while I'm also doing something else, like cleaning or cooking or sewing.
 
I just read the first two in that series by Sarah Adams.

I'm currently listening to Sometimes I Lie by Alice Feeney and I'm reading Morbidly Yours by Ivy Fairbanks, I just started it.

I just moved to a new position at work, so I'm not in the car nearly as much, so my audiobooks are way down! LOL!

This month I've listened to All the Colors of the Dark (good) by Chris Whitaker and I finished the Ravenswood Witch (it was ok), I started it in December, it took awhile to get through it.
 
I bought this one with a Christmas gift card, I haven't gotten to it yet, because everytime I think I'm going to start it, another one I had on hold in the library pops up. LOL!

I really enjoyed The Good Part.

The books I own always get pushed to the back burner when library due dates come around. I have 3 library cards. Sometimes it is a lot of juggling. I did make it a goal to read 1 book/month that I own.
 
I'm reading a book my daughter suggested - Picking Daisies on Sundays. I'm also re-reading (listening for the first time) to the entire JD Robb series, which is one of my favourite series'. I'm on the 7th one - only 50+ to go lol

Oooh, I loved the "In Death" series by JD Robb, but I haven't read any in several years. I saw that there's a new one coming out; maybe it's time to revisit Lieutenant Dallas (and that hottie, Roarke!)

Book 59 is coming out in February! She still writes 2 a year in this series. A few years ago she changed companies and they're not as steamy as they once were (as I'm realizing with starting at book 1 lol). I still faithfully read them though, every time they come out!
