Do you decorate seasonally?

Now that Christmas is over and I have packed away all my holiday decor, I am looking at some blank walls and really do not want to put up the old, every day stuff. Frankly, I am just tired of it and want something new.

I thought it might be fun to decorate for the seasons, so am pulling together a winter theme; think warm and cozy, lots of pine accents and deer. To save money I am repurposing some Christmas decor that is not over the top Christmassy and crafting a few things. It is coming together nicely, so far, but it has me wondering if I am just going over the top again, or if other people decorate for the seasons.

Do you decorate for the seasons? If so, how do you break it down? Do you do it along the season's themselves or do seasonal holidays? Or do you mix them, say spring with some easter thrown in?

I would love an insight to what others do, so I can figure out the best way to go about this. After all the Christmas stuff I brought and then didn't use, I would like to have a better game plan then, "oh, that is pretty." LOL
 
I'm lucky if we even decorate for Christmas! And that's mostly because the kids do it. :D Our house looks the same all year round otherwise. No seasonal decorating for us.
 
I'm literally the worst decorator ever!! We put up a tree and we have one framed diamond painting that one of the kids made several years ago that we put up. I also have a wooden merry Christmas sign I put in the kitchen. That is it, and we don't decorate for any other holidays. I'd love to be one of those people that has a beautifully decorated home, but I have just never gotten myself together in that way.
 
At Christmas our decorations are limited to a tree and the fireplace. Quite a few of the things on the fireplace are more winter than Christmas, so I've been wondering whether to leave some of that there.

I've never really decorated for other seasons, although this year we did put an Autumn themed garland and some pumpkins on the mantlepiece and hearth. It did look nice and that's why I'm considering doing for the other seasons, but I'm not really sure what that would look like. What do others do for Spring and Summer for example.
 
After taking down the Christmas stuff, I leave out some of the winter decor like the little pine trees and snowbabies. I have some ceramic moose that I leave out and some wreaths with cardinals. Usually the end of January, or the beginning of Feb, I decorate for Valentine's day. I love Spring & Easter decor so I have a lot of that. In summertime I usually do beach-themed and red, white, blue nautical stuff. Lots of pumpkins for fall.
I have a lot of white/cream colored teapots and pitchers that I was given as gifts or from my late grandmother that I leave out all year and then add dried or fresh flowers with the seasons. Some of my decorations are from my late grandma and they just make me happy to have them out. It probably all seems like a mishmash to some people, but it makes me happy. Honestly, even though my kids and hubby tease me about decorating sometimes, they would miss it too if I stopped!
 
Nope, that's just too much work for me.
I do Christmas then I pack it away and then we'll have the Chinese New Year decorations (very very minimal) hung on our living room window. We also change the CNY decors sticking on our entrance door every year and that's about it.
 
i make all kinds of private boards on pinterest of what i'd LIKE my house to look like. does that count? haha. it wouldn't be different with the seasons but what I want and what i actually do is very different lol
 
I do decorate/leave up some of the holiday stuff- but my main tree is snowflake themed- so I leave that up forever (according to my husband! lol) I take down the stockings & all the santa stuff, but leave up the trees and winter stuff.

I usually take all the winter stuff down at the end of January & then put a few things up for February for Valentine's day- just a cute heart wreath on the door, a couple heart decorations and things my kids have made over the years from elementary school.

March goes up spring/easter- I usually keep the egg stuff out until Easter, then just leave the spring stuff- some cute little animals and flower candle holders, etc. Nothing too crazy. That all comes down in June. I put just a few things up for July and August is actually the only time that I have nothing up for decor.

September I start to get some Fall stuff out- but we have really warm, nice Septembers, so usually it's towards the end of the month. Fall stays out & I add Halloween in October. All of that get's mostly put away after Halloween & then I start pulling holiday stuff! I leave one table for Thanksgiving decor (I just have a couple things- if we're not hosting) and it's ALL.ABOUT.CHRISTMAS from then on! ;)

I just dug out decorations for Valentine's day. I used to do a tiered tray on the kitchen counter, but felt that was too much - so I have just been decorating the top of the small cabinet we have in the kitchen.

Your decorated cupboard is adorable and I love the items you have displayed.
 
My mom is a hardcore seasonal decorator. Spring is a combination of flowers, bunnies, and/or Easter-related things. Summer is Fourth of July-themed. Autumn is scarecrows & pumpkins. Winter is Christmas and specifically Santas and gnomes. She always has a seasonally-appropriate wreath and a decorated porch in addition to inside the house which includes seasonal hand towels, decor on most of the flat surfaces, and a seasonal tablescape on the dining room table.

I try to have a seasonal wreath & welcome mat. We decorate a lot for Christmas including special artwork on the walls and my tabletop tree collection. Autumn is mostly pumpkins (including hot pink, sequins, etc.) I don't have much in the way of spring or summer decor.
 
I do! Well, for fall and Christmas and a tad of Valentine's Day.

My plan is similar to take down the very Christmas decor and leave the wintery. Soon I'll add my Valentine's items.

My "normal" decor is used for spring and summer.
 
I don't whole house decorate like for Christmas but I have my Pyrex cabinet and sideboard that I seasonally decorate. Along with a dough bowl on my table. This will change out with seasons and then holiday mixed in. So winter with Christmas, then winter with Valentine's. Spring with St. Patty Day or Easter mixed it at different times. Summer with Fourth of July mixed in, etc.
 
Amie, you and I are too much alike and I love it!

Jill, I love your cupboard and wish I had something like it. I have a corner cabinet that was my mom's that is dark wood and nothing shows in it. I have been trying to give that thing away for years so I can get something that suits me better, but I can't get any takers. And the thought of tossing something that meant so much to my mom, she loved that cabinet, makes it really hard for me to just put it on the curb like I want to. It is solid oak, still in great shape, but just too dark for me. And the glass on the doors have gold cross bars, so you really can't see anything. I decorate it, but it is like a black hole that swallows my pretties up. I want one like yours!

And Jill, what is Chalk Couture? Those hearts are stinkin' cute.

I feel better knowing that so many of you do a little something or a big something for the seasons/holidays. It makes me feel less like I am going overboard.

And Kristin, if you ever look at my Pinterest, you will see all my decor boards. I have so many it is insane. But it is fun to make them. :)
 
I did more when my son was younger... but now I'm like eh, I'm tired. I didn't get things out until late last year. My Christmas stuff is still up... I should work on that today and then bring up the Valentines decor.
