CYOA - Questions Megathread

Hey chickies!

As requested, here's a thread where you can ask any questions you might have.

Two quick clarifications on this month's card...

The featured designer challenge should be either Meg Mullens or Tracey Monette.

and

The TOTB challenge should actually be March 2nd, 2014. We made a last minute edit to the card because the initial spaces weren't square and I'm guessing we used an older draft to make that edit. Though, it's entirely possible that I goofed and updated in my head and with the Babes but didnt update the card.

The card has been updated with those edits and we'll note and link the designer's stores in next month's challenges.

So sorry for those errors, but we appreciate the patience while we iron out some kinks.

Feel free to ask any other questions here.

Is it possible to have links to the archived challenge inspiration or tell us how to find them.

Im sure its quite obvious but, here we are lol

We'll be discussing them in our Our Take Tuesday posts with links and inspiration to make sure you're getting to the right place each month <3

Do we need to provide links to all the layouts, or is the tracker image what we should post in the monthly thread?

I think the tracker image is enough to earn rewards, but I will say when you guys link your layouts it makes it easier for us to find them to spotlight and give shout outs to on our socials, blog posts, etc <3

I was sure I read somewhere the answer to this but the #hashtags challenge.... is it open to interpretation or something else?

Putting # on EVERYTHING was a scrap trend for awhile there, so you're welcome to interpret it however you like <3

I've looked in the challenge's but I don't see any posts from 2014

For the "scrap off-topic" challenge, does that mean taking a themed kit - for example, an autumn kit and scrapping something completely unrelated to autumn?

Thesaurus is causing me problems. What kind of page do I need to make?
Add a definition?

You could use wordstrips to describe someone or an event. If you have kids you could list some of the funny words they use in place of real words. You could use descriptive words in large print but on low opacity as a background to whatever page you're doing. Even your title couple be just made of synonyms. E.g. Amazing, incredible, wonderful you!

LA will be showcasing a couple of examples of this challenge in the "Our Take Tuesday Volume 3" on Jan 16th.

So, rather than a definition, you're looking for synonyms. (A dictionary contains definitions, and a thesaurus gives you lists of synonyms - words that have the same or similar meaning to whatever word you look up.)

So, if I did a layout about a child who has a silly sense of humor, to meet this challenge I would include other words that also mean silly: crazy, cheeky, saucy, audacious, fresh, sassy, smart-alecky, mischievous, playful, sly, wily...

As Jacinda suggested, you could do word strips all over the layout with those different words. Or, you could use them in a journaling block, bolding each of those words so they stand out. Or you could create a patterned paper for your background with all those words on it. Or use several of them in your title.

But the idea is to use multiple words that mean the same (or similar) thing.

If you need some help coming up with synonyms, one of my favorite tools is thesaurus.com. And another is Word Hippo's Synonym Finder.

Hope that helps!

My fault. Fell asleep at the wheel this morning and Katie and Henry came for dinner tonight and just left, so I'm just getting back online since earlier this afternoon. LeeAndra's post with some awesome inspo from our Babes has been moved now <3

Question to clarify if the rule still applies that we can scrap with retired kits (I see there's a prompt!), but they have to be from a current designer. Correct? I read everything I could and didn't see it listed anywhere.

The "Use Your Stash" prompt "Scrap With a Retired Product"...I have a kit that was a collab by DSI and KimB called Soar & Roar that I want to use. I'm not sure if it was ever sold here so I don't know if it's a retired kit. Is it ok to use this kit? Can anyone help??

Yes, that was sold here so that's absolutely fine to use!

I'm on mobile so I can't link like many of you, this means that I will have the prompt for the layout and then below that the link. After I do that adding my love will make my spot HUGE in the thread. Is that what I need to do though so that yall can verify my love?

Just to be sure, for the Scrapper's Portfolio - Feb 2010 #3, it’s this one we have to do:
3 - Check out this super fun site and use it as inspiration to scrap your own collection?
Thank you for your help :)

Hey Lea!

So both Felt and Ephemera were HUGE trends over the years!

For felt, we're looking for feltie elements, alphas, etc like these...

Think vintage labels, old stamps, torn, crumpled and worn paper, etc.
