Windows 11

The qualifying is strange. I got pretty much the cheapest Dell computer two years ago this month, and I have the offer. I certainly don't want to upgrade, though. I'm not into new things. lol

My PC didn't qualify either but my husband had to do something in the bios at start up and now its ready.

Is there really no drag & drop? Can someone confirm this? Because I can live without folder images but not without drag & drop.

No, PS is not the only way to make an ico file. There are converters online and instructions on how to do it in MS Paint. I just did a quick google and found those. But a lot of them have you doing one image at a time.

Ugh, that sounds extra tedious.

I can drag & drop in PSCC just fine with windows 11. I love it... all except the folder previews thing.

Oh thank you, I couldn't design without drag & drop. That would be a bad idea to remove.

Drag and drop works fine IF you have PS loaded and visible on your desktop. It took me a while to remember that. As long as I can see the program on my screen, I can drop any file there.

I keep getting the upgrade reminder but haven't hit the install button yet. I have to work up to change, lol.

My husband rolled his back to 10. Found it very glitchy & lots of issues. So I'm not bothering, I'll keep Windows 10.

I thought I was just crazy for thinking it was glitchy, but now that I know I'm not (completely) crazy I think I'm rolling back too

That's so weird... I got my current laptop when Windows 10 was still pretty new, and I qualified for the free upgrade. Strange.

I got my laptop just about 2 months ago with Windows 10 and haven't gotten any info about an upgrade ... it's all very odd!

His was shocking. Kept shutting down saying CPU was overheating. Then going onto airplane mode randomly, or just not starting up at all! And our modem is hooked up to his, and we've never had so many WiFi issues since he upgraded either.

I just got a new computer with Windows 11. It's horrible to miss those features and it's slowing me down enormously. I really don't know what they were thinking :(

I've been offered it for my Dell laptop, and mine will be 3 years old in March. I wonder what makes some qualify and others not. I'm not upgrading right now. The folder images are part of it, but I also like to give them time to work out the glitches and incompatibilities before I make a major upgrade like this. With an older computer like mine, I suspect the upgrade will have more "surprises" than with a newer computer.

I still can't believe they just got rid of the folder previews. I mean, yeah it uses a lot of resources, but how about just giving the user the option whether or not they want to show them. Sheesh! Lol.

argh! I am here with Windows 11 and cryyyyyiiiiinnnnnng without my folder previews. You guys have no idea how many folders I have on my computer and it is all yellow! WHYYYYY would someone think that is the best way to work I have no idea!

I came here wishing someone would have some good idea to bring my folders back and now I wanna cry all over again. lol

I'm crying with you except I've been having this problem for 2.5 years after getting Windows 10. I found two work arounds, then my computer does something weird like Photoshop freezing, and poof all my previews are gone again. I give up. :( Maybe I should get a Mac next time.

but I don't think people sees what is inside in mac either? lol argh. I am hating it. and I am not sure I can change back to Win 10...

my idea today was to start a new solo, but I am almost turning my pc off for the week :crying::D

I did see somewhere that the next big update is bringing at least partial folder previews back. So there's hope! Can't wait until Fall when that update is released!

I think you can still go back. And, good to know about the Mac. You would think they would have previews because they were always know as being an operating system that could handle graphics. I'll do some heavy research before making the jump when the computer I have now blows up. lol

I'm still using my old Dell computer that is running windows 8! I upgraded to Windows 10 when it came out and it was horrible! I don't think this computer would be able to upgrade to 11, but I don't want to, either, LOL!

I am really not sure about Mac because I never used one... maybe I am wrong. lol It is too expensive to have one here. Maybe one day I can go to the US to buy one lol

Don't upgrade it. It sucks. LOL

Oh, no--I'm sorry! It stinks to be so frustrated with an upgrade. Everything in this thread is 7 months old from when Windows 11 was very new. I wonder if anyone outside the SSD community came up with a fix since then.

There are some work arounds, but it seemed SUPER tedious & time consuming so I hoped there would be enough complaints that "Windows" would make a change. I did find this info: "Folder previews support was removed with the original Windows 11 release and it’s making a return with version 22H2 to be released sometime this Fall"

Oh I really really hope so! It's been so horrible without the folder previews and everything is taking me so much longer...

I couldn't find anything that was worthy trying
