Organizing Scrap Kits

What program do you use to organize all your scrap kits...I have sooo many and I need a way of keeping track of them

sadly, I don't use a program to organize them.

Each designer has their own folder with a folder for each of their kits. That's about as good as organization that I have as far as it comes to scrapbooking products.

My husband is a software developer and he developed a program especially for me called digiscrap catalog. I love how it works and it makes it really easy to find that one certain kit or themed kit with the search option :) The program is free and you can get it through the fb group I linked to :) Hope that's alright.

here's a screenshot of the program.....

OMG Biancka that is wonderful and thanks so much for posting the link.

You are most welcome !! I use this program everyday....I have created several catalogs: for SSD, for all my templates, for my layouts etc. It's a really good way of keeping track of your stash for sure.

I have a big scrap folder. Inside there are subcategories for Templates and then kits by theme. I have Christmas kits, Life - Mundane, Life - Positive, Life - Sad/Grieving, Childhood, Family, Home, other holidays, etc. Each kit is sorted by theme. Inside that theme each kit has a folder. SSD kits are marked with a '~' symbol at the beginning to bring them to the top of my kits. Since I really only do challenges here, it is easier to find them that way.

In my templates folder, the themed ones are pulled into separate subfolders. The rest have a number in front of them based on the number of photo slots available. If I have 4 photos I want to scrap, I scroll down to the 4's and look for the template that catches my eye.

I will check out the software! I like the system I used (I am pretty sure Traci Reed posted about something similar) but am always open to changes.

OMG Biancka -- I'm so glad I post this request! I just joined the group and getting the program -- please tell your hubby THANK YOU

I use Bridge which is free with Photoshop. It does something similar to what it looks like Biancka DH built for her.

I love it

Wow - Biancka! I'll have to check that out - I used to be great at knowing what i have, but the info is getting pushed out of my memory with other things.

I typically organize by categories as I'm mainly a theme scrapper. My templates are way more organized as they are grouped by number of photos on the template or if it's a theme like "Christmas." I usually end up searching my computer for "umbrella" and see what kit pops up with an umbrella in it... :) It works great until I need a "car" and hundreds of results come back with journaling cards. haha

I've been organizing just in folders. It works fairly well. I have organizing/tagging in both PSE and ACDSee.
I got frustrated with ACDSee when my computer crashed and the info wouldn't transfer to the new computer even with a back up.
PSE tended to crash when I used the Organizer, so I stopped using that.
I've been told that Bridge is good & easy to use.
I'm going to take a look at your program, too, Biancka! Thank you so much for sharing!!

OMG!! i am off to download! looks awesome.

I thought I had downloaded this before, but maybe it was before I got my new computer. Need to DL again! :)

I just use a big digiscrap kits folder on my desktop, and a digiscrap pages folder in my pictures folder. The digiscrap kits folder is broken down. Last year I reorganized everything by item. I have a papers folder that is broken down by colors, an elements folder broken down by type such as flowers, string, stamps, buttons, etc. I only broke down my old stuff in that way. My new stuff goes in folders like "Nov 2018 new stuff". Once I use it a few times, then I (will later) break it down into the category folders.

I once tried going through and tagging in Bridge, but I just have way too many kits and it would take me too long to complete!

I'm on a Mac and I use the tag function. I add the product image and tags right after download so everything is immediately organized. I add tags for type (i.e. template, stitches, unused, etc), designer, store and themes. It's just a few key strokes per product. I'm mostly a kit scrapper so I'm very rarely looking for specific elements.

Does anyone use Bridge on a Mac? I have been trying to use PSE organizer but I'm getting so frustrated with it crashing and slowing down my whole computer. I have a CC subscription so Bridge is an option if it will work for my huge collection of kits.

I got SO tired of the PSE organizer crashing!
I've been told that Bridge works really well and is easy to use. I just haven't taken the time to try it out.
Let us know what you think if you do try it.

My kits are organized by designers or by store. Except for my Disney kits. Those are organized by theme- princess, food, travel, fab 5, pirate, Fantasyland, Toy Story, Animal Kingdom etc.

I started by sorting the mess that was my digifile on my external drive and I've started setting up bridge but I think I have a lot to learn. At least it doesn't seem to crash my computer though!

I was pretty satisfied with my folder classification but since your hubby created something just for scrapbooking supplies I'm gonna have to check it out!
Thank you so much Biancka!!

I have kits in folders by store and then title of kit, with designer name too. I also have a file with kit previews that I sometimes go through if I'm looking for certain colors etc to find the kit that works best. It's not perfect by any means. Yesterday I sorted all my templates (over 2000!) into folders by blocked templates or 1, 2, 3 and 4 + photo spots. We'll see if that helps save time.
Can't wait to check out your program Biancka - though I'm not sure if it would work for a Mac?
I also never heard of Bridge, will have to try that out too! So glad I checked this thread!

This is almost what I do-- My folders are Store: Designer (also one called Collabs): Kit. I figured that store name & designer are always on the kit preview.
I have a Kit Previews folder & within that I have most separated out into folders--one for each kid, one for Kids, Travel (with a Disney subfolder), Everyday, Seasons(subfolders for each + Christmas), etc. I'll check the most obvious folder first, but go to another one if I don't find just what I want.
I also have a template previews folder --I rename all of the previews by adding 01, 02, 03, etc. based on how many photos.
And recently added a card previews folder-- found that this was super helpful for PL weeks that I didn't get many photos.

That's good to know! Thanks!!

No, so sorry........we don't own a Mac so my husband cannot develop software for the Mac.

Has anyone from this thread downloaded the program and is still using it ?? I use it on a daily basis. Right now I am burning my scrap-goodies on DVDs and I also organize the DVDs so if I need a kit......I just do a search and I can immediatly see which DVD the kit/template is on :) Just love it

Sadly no. With sickness and emergency surgery, I’ve not had a chance to even install it yet! It’s on my ever-growing to do list

Oh I'm not complaining, Biancka! I wouldn't expect your husband to program for your friends! LOL I was just letting other people know in case there are other Mac users! I think it's so cool that he made it for you - that's love! There's a valentine's day page for you!

I got so excited I went to Facebook immediately! Now scrolling down I see that it isn't for Mac. I'm going to try the tagging method that SeattleSheri mentioned :)
