Yahoo Messenger help

My IRL best friend (Neverland Scraps) and I talk daily using Yahoo Messenger on our computers. She lives in CO, I live in MI. We just received notices that the program will be closing in July!

Can anyone recommend any other chat programs we can use on our computers so we can still continue to chat on a daily basis? Thank you ladies! Hopefully we can find something that can keep us "talking" everyday!

I have Facebook messenger on my phone. Do you think we could get desktop apps of it too?

We don't really need Skype, as we don't need to video chat, it's mostly just sharing things going on at any random time of the day! If we are both on...great! If not, we leave a message for each other and see it later.

Skype has a written chat as well as video chat.

There is no official desktop version of Messenger that I know of (there are probably non-Facebook affiliated applications though), but instead you can use it through Facebook as it was originally created.

messenger.com :) you can use that instead of facebook and you don't need to be connected to your FB if you don't want to be.

Thank you everyone for your help!! Thank you Dawn for taking it upon yourself to find something for us to keep in touch throughout the day!! It's always a highlight to see your messages on my second monitor when I come downstairs to the computer!

A couple of my besties and I just chat through the Facebook messenger app most of the day. We can write super long posts and just have it sit there until the other is available or we can go back and forth like we were in person.

I use WhatsApp web. If I leave my computer I can continue the conversation on my phone.

Sorry I am just now seeing this! I am usually offline over the weekends! It's a video walkie talkie type of thing and really fun! You take a little video and send it and then the other person does the same whenever they can. :)

That's interesting--kind of like a safer way of SnapChat (which is forbidden in the house). I don't think Dawn and I would use that, but maybe when my oldest goes off to college next year, we could use this so she could randomly see her little brother! Thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it!
