S/O - Vegetable Noodles

Juli mentioned that she's having zoodles (zucchini noodles) this week. This is something that I've been looking into now that DH is no longer eating any noodles whether they're GF or not. :p

What kind of machine/tool do I need to make vegetable noodles?

Does everyone make them out of zucchini? Or are there other vegetables that work, too? Any vegetables to NOT use because they taste horrible as noodles?

You need a spiralizer! I have one similar to this one - they vary in price.

I had a hand-held one first and it was a pain in the butt, so I got a nicer one.

I use zucchini, beets, winter squash, cucumber, jicama, parsnips, kholrabi, potatoes, and sweet potatoes. I've also used it for apples!

I just have a cheap handheld one. I like it, but often I'm lazy and just use spaghetti squash.

I sometimes use Spaghetti squash - all you have to do is scrape the flesh out with a fork and it instantly turns to noodles (then you cook it). Super easy... if you can find them!

I cook first, let it cool a little, then scrape with a fork. Either way, very easy!

I love spaghetti squash too - I poke holes all through it with a knife and microwave it whole for 10 to 12 minutes.

I have a hand tool (like a potato peeler) that works ok, its a bit tedious but we're only feeding 2 people so it doesn't take too long. I like using zucchini and squash. I add a bit of coconut oil, seasoned salt mix, garlic and onion and then just before softened from frying up, I add shredded parmesan and a bit of butter.
