Well, I just got the short end

Thurs night is always date night around here. Yesterday John says that he thinks we should skip going out and it would be appreciated if I would cook a nice meal because the kids have had soup 3 nights in a row (as if that's a problem? :D ) and we can all sit down as a family together.

Ok, whatever. Works for me.

I make a super nice meal... balsamic glazed pork tenderloin, wild rice and green beans in a warm bacon vinaigrette.

Jakes goes into work for a special shift and John sheepishly calls that he's still at work and won't be home for a couple hours.

What?! You got the privilege of cooking a delicious meal, and every day, I say to myself, "Self. There is no greater joy than spending two hours in the kitchen preparing a meal that people are going to wolf down in 5 minutes and then spend another hour in the kitchen cleaning it all up." You won, my friend. You won.

Seriously, I feel your pain. He better make next week's date night out of this world.

YES. THIS right here.

I hate that they eat and then scamper right back off to their rooms or whatnot. Stick around and talk with me!

I would be livid. As in I would leave all the food out and leave the house and rage-shop. :p

Ugh.... I would be super mad if Lan does that to me. He better has something up his sleeves as a compensation there.

*sigh* yup - same here... and it's getting worse. My hubby's VP is a late stayer and expects everyone else to be, too... I usually don't start supper until I see the whites of my hubby's eyes! Now Hubby says that if he is going to be home at a certain time, he has to start avoiding VP starting at 2:30pm. haha

Hopefully next week date night will be as schedule!

Oh, Valerie, you're not alone!
Yesterday the same happened to me. I knew when my husband would come home and prepared something warm and nice to eat and then he texted me he'd a bit late because work was crazy and I said ok. I thought he'd be like 15-30 minutes late but you know -- he was 2 hours late! So, yeah, it happens everywhere and with everyone. So, I just enjoyed myself with a TV series and then when he came home we went out for a walk ;)

This is the best :D

Ugh, this has been us lately, too. He keeps getting busy right at the end of shift and the food is cooked and waiting. We decided earlier this week that kiddo and I would just eat when we should rather than waiting, but I am not sure how that will go. The first day after he asked me to stop waiting, he called and asked what's for supper on his way home.

I normally would've just waited till he confirmed that he was, indeed, on his way home... but it was a roasted meat that I needed to get going before the kids left for youth group.

Oh well, not the worst thing. He did just get a massive bonus so I shouldn't complain. I did get one last little stab in before bed though... he said, "You know what you should make for dinner next week? Baked spaghetti. YUM." and I said, "Why? So I can make it and you work late again?"

Oh, snap.
