NSBR: Waist Training

So I'm seeing a lot of celebrities now-a-days wearing these to trim their waists especially after pregnancy, and combine it with exercise and diet. Has anyone here tried this method and does it work? Those waist trimmers are expensive but if they work I'd like to use try them in combination with working out.

I wanna try it too...I can get lean when I run regularly but I have love handles and wanna trim that up lol I've love an hourglassish figure

It's just a corset, which has a long history of doing damage like displacing organs if used too much and too tight, so be careful!

Exactly! I work for the hospital and we've had women come in with GI problems because their intestines are being squished (not to mention chronic constipation because of compression on the colon), back problems due to compression on the spinal cord, breathing problems because the lungs are being displaced upward, and more. Truly the only way to get a better figure is by eating well (no processed foods, no sugar, no empty fat; i.e. oils and butter, etc.) and exercising to keep muscle mass.

The ads always say in conjunction with diet and exercise... well it's the diet and exercise that really is making it work, not compressing the fat and moving it around.

This looks like a hotflash/panic attack waiting to happen to me! hahaha!

Hahaha!!! Me too! Claustrophobic's nightmare :D

Also, the thing is that everyone is built differently and no matter what you do not everyone is meant to have an hourglass figure. I have the boobs but I have absolutely no a$$/hips! No amount of squishing things around is going to give me an un-flat butt, no matter how much I try - LOL Someone who has smaller boobs and more junk in the trunk isn't going to magically get bigger boobs and less in the butt from a corset either.

When I see these I think, "How is squashing my insides together going to 'train' my muscles to do anything?"

Now, what I don't understand are all these 'wraps' being advertised on social media. What the heck are those things????

I've done some research on that and the results are just temporary, not permanent. Don't bother trying this nightmare!

Yep, just a corset, which I don't think I could wear for days at a time to get that figure.

I have the hourglass figure and while everyone says that's what they want, they don't want it when they have it ;) I'm just barely feeling like I can find clothes to fit my body shape.

Nope. I feel like women spent so much time where they were expected to wear them, I'm not going back LOL. I'm just longing for the day when sweat pants come into fashion :p

Same concept, different execution.

Yes, that is a corset. I have a few, which I wear occasionally. The effect is temporary, though, and only if you wear it for a long term faithfully. I usually just wear it if I want to wear a dress and don't want my fatty tummy to look floppy :p
My mom also made me wear it for awhile after I gave birth so that my tummy doesn't flop worse than it is.
But, I'll say, it's diet and exercise that will really do the trick. :)

Thanks for the responses! I guess I wasn't intending to wear as a corset because a corset has the bars and I'm looking more into the stretching flexible band for sweating to be worn only while working out.
