Word Crimes

Yep - I posted it on my FB yesterday. :D It is fantastic! It made my little editor soul happy (except for the part where he said it's okay to leave out Oxford commas--lol).

I actually had to Google Oxford Commas. We don't use them here lol.

It's funny because before we heard of the new Weird Al videos, a few weeks ago my husband was showing the kids all of his old videos for v the first time

I really could care less about grammar..... :)
No seriously, I had seen that video from my in-laws and thought it was funny. My M-I-L majored in French, German and Russian, speaks about 9 languages and DEFINITELY instilled in her kids an appreciation for correct usage of English. My hubby likes to point out grammar mistakes!

you guys are killing me, haha!!! My husband use to say "I could care less" all the time before one day I finally couldn't take it snapped at him. Not my finest moment, but he stopped. I feel bad, but it was literally driving me crazy! :p ;)

you guys are all my favorite. It's not every day that I find grammar nuts as nutty as me :) I do miss capitalization a lot because my shift key doesn't work all that well, but other than that, I'm seriously crazy about grammar.

haha... My mom and I argue about this all the time when I was growing up and then when I was working and editing training materials... she didn't learn about the oxford comma and I did... haha... and I'm like the opposite of a word nerd there is - I'm sooo bad at grammar since I never was forced to learn it in school. You can bet that kiddo will be a grammar geek by the time I'm done with him in homeschool! It's my time to finally learn!!

My kids and I spent hours watching Weird Al videos this evening, all thanks to this thread! My daughter loves Word Crimes. :) I will admit that my grammar is not always perfect but I definitely try to write and speak with good grammar. Some of the little mistakes don't bother me but I hate when some things are just so stinkin' obvious. My son was just 4 years old and correcting grammar in a kids book (a Berenstain Bears book). I have a 12 year old who has started to type in text speak. It drives me crazy. I've told her that I don't mind it when she is texting and I don't mind her commenting 'LOL' here or there but she needs to show some class when she is posting somewhere. After watching this video she said "Mom, I get what you were saying!" :)
