Silhouette and HSN...

Sweet Shoppe SugarBabe
Home Shopping Network has their Silhouette Cameo and Portrait bundles on easy pay....I'm seriously considering getting one.

Anyone ever ordered from HSN?

I don't use them much but have found the best deal on 12x12 PL page protectors there, so have ordered those a couple of times. No issues.

Oh, and I have come to love my Portrait. Think I would like the Cameo, too, but I honestly print most that I cut so 8.5 x 11 works well for me (and the price was better).

Carrie I bought my cameo through HSN and was thrilled with the service. I am not a regular shopper there, but the bundle I got at the time was literally the best around... including the $35 in silhouette money that was included in the package. :)

Aaaaaaaack! I just ordered the Cameo!!!

I also was sent a 15% coupon code for signing up for their emails so I saved an additional $40.49 off of the bundled price. :D

I was just going to mention the new customer code... that is what sealed the deal for me!
Glad you got a new toy on the way! You'll love it!!

I just ordered the Portrait. With the 15% off for signing up for the newsletter I only paid $163.19. I was going to wait until next year. Now I need to go buy ink.

There's a Cameo accessories bundle on Massdrop at the moment. I didn't look too closely since I have a Portrait and once I saw the dust cover, my "never buy anything you won't use" twitch kicked in, but they've usually got good deals and I've ordered other stuff through Massdrop before.

Besides the size capability, do the Cameo and the Portrait essentially do the same thing? Like, can the portrait do all the same things the cameo can? I'm thinking of getting the portrait, but really don't know much about it. Is the machine all I need, or would I have to buy lots of accessories too?

Jacinda, that's basically the only difference, the size.

I'd suggest that you get a few tools, especially depending on materials. I'm all for the hook, spatula, and scraper. Other than that, the only things you will need to buy are your materials and replacement blades/mats.

The bundle that I got comes with the tools that Jen mentioned. I think the Portrait only comes with one of those tools.

With the portrait you get:
What You Get

Silhouette Portrait Cutting Tool
Cutting mat
Blade
Silhouette Studio software
50 exclusive ready-made shapes
(2) $10 download cards to Silhouette online store
Canvas cover
Scraper
Spatula
Power cord
USB cable
Instruction guide
Instructional DVD
Manufacturer's 1-year limited warranty on cutting tool

From what I read I think the cameo has a SD slot and the portrait doesn't. Other then the size and that the rest is the same.

I don't have any accessories with my Portrait. I use an old credit card as a scraper. I can see where the hook or spatula could be handy, but they definitely aren't necessary if you want to just dive in and get started on a low budget.

How often do you have to replace the blade?

I got mine I December and I have replaced one but it was my fault. It is suggested you use a different blade for different types of materials. I have one for paper and one for vinyl and a spare. I joined the Amazon subscription to get them cheaper every 3 months.

I just ordered my Cameo! I have been wanting one for a long time and have been waiting to find a good deal on one. I also signed up for their emails and received a 15% off coupon code that took $40 off the price making it only $229!! Thanks for posting this thread, I wouldn't have known about this awesome deal otherwise!! :)
