Suddenly I am seeing everything my FB friends are liking or commenting on. For example: Say my friend Kelly, who is on my contacts list, likes some random page or makes a comment on one of HER friends posts. Why am I seeing it on MY newsfeed? I don't know that other friend. I can't find an option to filter those kinds of posts. All I can find is to hide or block my friend, which I don't want to do, because then I won't see ANY of her posts/status updates. It's not just one friend either. I suddenly seem to be seeing hundreds of posts that I don't want/need to see.

Anyone know how to turn it off globally? It would be a pain in the butt to have to go through my friends list one by one.

I agree, it is a pain... but what bothers me most is that some people I don't even know are seeing my posts and photos because a mutual friend of ours comments/likes it. :p

I think it is one of the most invasive changes FB has made. Nothing is really private anymore!

Jacinda, if you hover over your friends name, then click friends, then click settings, you can uncheck comments and likes. You'll see everything else she posts, just not the stuff you don't want to see. :)

Isn't part of it the other person's friends settings? If they had their post settings to be visible to friends of friends or public, you see it....if it's set to friends only, others wouldn't, correct?

It is part of your friend's settings. It's always best to use "Friends Only" and not "Friends of Friends" or "Public." The problem is that your friend's privacy settings aren't private enough. It's also because, as kscwgirl points out, you have your settings set to pick up every single thing that your friend posts that is "Friends of Friends" or "Public." Facebook gives you granular control. You could set an individual friend so you see everything last thing available or you could set them so you only see status updates or you could set them so you see nothing that they ever post or do. (The last option is helpful for those friends who just can't stop putting political opinions in their status updates, but you want to keep them as a friend and not defriend them.)

OMGosh, I KNOW! I can't believe they did this. It's SO WRONG. It's not like I'm posting things that are morally wrong or that would offend anyone, but the other day I posted on KCB's wall something totally scrappy, and it showed up on my husband's feed. There is just NO NEED FOR THAT.

Jacinda, what I do is change the settings for people as they show up on my feed as opposed to going through my whole friends' list. You hover over the friend's name, go to "settings" and uncheck "Likes and Comments".

Thanks Kellie. I started doing that today. What a pain though - I liked it how it was before they changed everything.
