Anyone started their dreaded Christmas shopping yet?

I know, some people will throw stones at me for even bringing it up.

I am actually considering doing most of my shopping online this year. LOL! I've got my cart at Target & America Girl all full of stuff the kids have asked for, just want to double check with the hubby when he gets home from work.

It's going to be an America Girl & Hulk Christmas at our house this year! LOL! Cooper has 3 different Hulk items on his list and Keira is so excited about the fact Santa might bring an American Girl.

Last night I picked up Dream lites for both kids, they've been asking for them like crazy.
 
No...and it'll be awhile before I start! Rachel's birthday is 3 days before Halloween, so I don't tend to start Christmas shopping until her birthday is out of the way.
She wants a Dream Light too...along with Lego Friends, Star Wars stuff, Brave toys, princess clothes, DS games, etc. Not sure what we'll be getting her yet.

The two older ones (14&15) are somewhat easy to shop for. I mean, they don't have a lot that they want that isn't super expensive. So, we usually just get them a couple of gifts. I don't have a clue what they want this year though, so I need to start asking.

Chloe will be the fun one this year though we REALLY don't need to go overboard as she'll just be 10 months old. We've got a big consignment sale next weekend where we always find lots of deals on cool toys that are in great condition. I think, for this year, most of her gifts will come from there cause she won't have a clue that they aren't brand new.
 
Christmas shopping should be quick and easy this year for us. All big boys (2 are adults!) and they will only want expensive stuff - video games mostly. So the quantity of gifts will be very low. Part of me is kind of sad we won't have a mountain of gifts under our tree and part of me is just done with that kind of thing anyway.
 
I've bought one thing, but other than that no. I feel like my kids are so young that even buying things four months in advance is too early since their tastes may change.
 
Not started yet but will get started on it when we make our trip to the UK in October. I really only buy for 5 adults plus my goddaughter so it's not too time consuming and all but one adult get smallish/inexpensive gifts. Everyone else just get Christmas Cards which I started on in January. ;)

exactly! I've had my youngest totally change what he asked for in late Nov/early Dec, so I am waiting until the holiday sales start hitting.

I did all my shopping online for the last 3-4 years and was so happy I did. Amazon.com loves me in December. LOL This year I have a prime membership, so my shipping is free without having to do a $25 order. I'll probably really take advantage of that.

My 20 year old son is going to be tough to buy for. I have NO idea what I'll do for him. My 9 yr old son is still completely into Star Wars legos so that is probably a safe bet, however I want to give him a variety of things not just Legos, so I'm looking for ideas.

I have one of my sister's gifts bought and delivered already. I have homemade vanilla started for the women's stockings on my list (2 sisters and my mom).

I have my calendar half done for my parents.

I've already started stashing homemade freezer meals that I make every year for my grandfather and bachelor cousin who is really close to our family and has spent the holidays with us ever since I can remember.

For Cheyanne I've been buying gift cards to her favorite stores each week - some I will cash in myself to wrap some things for under the tree and the others she'll get to use throughout the year. (I love doing this so I can purchase a card when I have extra cash throughout the year and stash them away). Her big gift is going to be a Kindle Fire and I've got half that money on an Amazon gift card already.
 
I need to start soon! With the baby coming on Nov 21st, I've got to get it done early. There'll be no driving for me for a few weeks after the baby comes and I do not want to be part of the Christmas rush with 3 kiddos in tow!!! So, I've got to get moving! lol
 
I normally start in Sept with the goal of being done by Thanksgiving. What I did last year was buy 90% of everything by November, then left room for another gift (maybe two if it's small) for each child depending on what they asked for from Santa. I was sure to tell them that once they wrote their letter, there was no changing their minds! I definitely have to be careful about buying everything too early, though, because they see commercials on t.v. or hear about things from their friends and it gets worse the closer it is to Christmas.
 
just a tiny bit. like a few little things for nieces and nephews that live in other states or live in Florida but wont be here in Orlando for Christmas.
 
I haven't even finished my back to school shopping yet (school starts next Wednesday), lol. I think it's a good idea to shop early, but I never execute on it.
 
not shopping, but making things, yes. I have a quilt top finished for my mom, need to quilt and bind it. I am working on a quilt top for my mom in law, and I have finished a table runner top for a friend... that needs quilted and bound as well. :thumbup:
 
Goodness NO! We do ALL our shopping online, and we usually do it over Thanksgiving weekend from the comfort of our couch. :) I have absolutely no idea what we'll be getting this kids this year. And, I don't plan on thinking about it for a few months yet. :)

I am amazed and impressed. And I think the gift of meals is very thoughtful.
 
Nope, I have too many other things to get ready for between now and Christmas....I probably won't start till the beginning of November!!!
 
Nothing here yet.

Need to make 2 quilts for a niece and nephew. I have been looking for a doll for my parents to get that niece. I'm hoping to then make her a tutu and a matching one for her doll. Other than that I haven't really thought about it.

The older kids will probably want gift cards.

I will probably make photo book scrapbooks for all of the kids but a lot of that will be the same pages so basically make one and print multiple times.

I have two other nieces that we are considering giving a doll also. If we go that route then I will make matching girl/doll tutus for them too.

I would like to do some crafty type things but haven't planned anything but above projects. Looking forward to seeing what others here are making.

Um, can we talk about candy corn VS tootsie rolls instead???
 
I usually have mine done by Halloween, so yes! lol I shop all year round for Christmas gifts & find killer deals! I got both of my sisters-in-law some awesome tall black boots from Bass that are normally $190. I got them on clearance for $9.99 and had a 20% off coupon!! My fave deal so far!!

No, haven't even started thinking about it. We typically just buy for the kids in our family so it isn't too big of a hassle. DH has 5 brothers and sisters and I have 2 so buying for the adults got too crazy and expensive so we all agreed to forgo gifts. I like to wait a little closer to Christmas to buy in case anyone needs to exchange something. I usually start making a list in November and get started then.

Ugh... I haven't even thought of halloween costumes yet. I'm still on the candy. LOL!!! Man, I am soooo behind this year!

By the way, shopping 100% online is the way to go for sure if you can do it early enough. I did it for the first time when I was on bedrest with DD and I ended up spending the least out of all our Christmases... I think I was less tempted to throw another this or that into the cart. I am planning on doing it online this year again.
 
Not yet, my oldest has a birthday in October & don't do any holiday shopping before then.

I have lists but we're debating between several different pricy electronics, and are waiting to see the Black Friday sale prices before we decide what we are getting for the big gift and the big gift decides the little associated gifts. So if we get an Xbox I have one list & if we get a Playstation I have another & if we skip a new game system & get a desktop for the boys that is a different list, but if we can fix my old laptop for less than $250 then that is a fourth list. A fifth list exists depending on the price of the game systems & the cost of repairing the laptop.

We always do all our shopping online every year but I think this year, since we will actually be in our hometown and not a major metropolitan area for a change I might just hit up Wal Mart or Target for the Black Friday insanity depending on what is on offer at what prices.

I enjoy Christmas shopping. I like making lists & it's practically the only time of the year I manage to stick to a budget. If I shop too early I misplace things or forget what I have bought & get duplicates or find things I think would be better gifts for the recipient, or the recipient buys the same thing for themselves. Shopping Nov-Dec seems to be the only thing that works for me.

Now, wrapping gifts? That I hate.

What?? Christmas shopping is usually done here like 2 days before Christmas. Lol. But I've always admired people who can plan things way in advance! :)
 
I have my niece and one of my nephews done. I know part of my mom and sister's gifts, just need to finish up the order. (I'm getting custom made tea towels with my grandma's recipe cards on them.)

I've started Joel's, too. I'm getting him A Year of Dates. So I've been picking up gift cards to restaurants when I get groceries, groupons when there is something I think would be fun, etc.
 
Not at all. Its hard for me because I've got Mariah's bday in October, Jennah's in November, and Carter's in December, all before Christmas. For Christmas this year, I'm getting the kids a laptop. They might each get 1 or 2 toys also and some clothes. I normally go crazy nuts with toys, but they seriously have no room anymore.
 
Nope. I can't even start thinking about it until after we move and until we decide if we are spending Christmas in utah or not.
 
I've bought about 3 gifts so far. I find it's easier to buy for my parents, my in-laws, and our gift exchange gifts this early. My kids are 10 and 13 and they won't really know what they want until November.

Last year I looked up all the things they saw in the Thanksgiving day ads and ordered them Thanksgiving night versus running to the store the next day. It was nice for it all to come in the mail, already in boxes I could easily hide.

I don't blame you for working ahead Vanessa. I can't imagine trying to pull off Christmas for two kids with a newborn. You're one smart cookie!
 
Why yes, yes I have. :) I started Christmas shopping for this year in December of last year. I picked up a few things just yesterday. I buy all year and we never miss the money and Christmas is less stressful.... well, supposedly. I still stress myself out anyway. ROFL
