Blog Help needed!

I have a personal blog where I put my hybrid projects. I want to start using it more, but right now it looks - bleh. How much does it cost to get someone to make a nice (and easy to use) blog for you? I was thinking I might do it myself but I'm thinking that it will suck and I'd rather just have it done and looking good. Are there other options?

I've used Zoe's Blog in a Box before and it looked much better then but I never really felt like I got it set up right. Maybe it's because I'm using Blogger?

I'd love ideas, help, to know how much it costs to have someone else get me going, etc. Bail me out here ladies!!!

I originally used zoe's blog in a box and now I do custom sets for family only(cause I don't love it lol) and it doesn't take very long to customize yourself- I only spend 45 minutes or so each time I do a redo, anymore.

I took a workshop with Elise Blaha that was really helpful to learn blogging basics. I learned all about design, and codes, and sidebars, and navigation bars, and everything you could want to know. Her workshop is for Typepad users only though -- but, she really persuaded me of the benefits of using Typepad, and she has a coupon deal that she worked out with Typepad that lowers your monthly cost. Here's my blog if you want to take a look. I mostly use mine to load scrapbook pages so my dd can see her kids' scrapbooks, but I could do lots more with it if I choose (now that I know how to code :) ).

I think Elise only teaches the workshop once or twice a year, and it was about $125, I think. It was worth it to me to have someone really knowledgeable explain the concepts and be there to ask questions. She is a great teacher, I really recommend her workshop. Hopefully it's okay to link her blog here. I think you'd have to email her to see when her next workshop is. HTH. http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/

Yah, I thought it was a lot too, but I really wanted to understand how the coding worked, and Elise was great about answering lots of questions. I know a lot of people like Blogger and manage to figure it out through trial and error, so hopefully someone can give you some tips.

From what I've seen when I looked around in the past, it's around $50 to get someone else to do the design for you, and there's often a wait list. The last time I updated my blog, I bought a blogwear template from a designer at another store (it was $6). It came with instructions of how to upload everything and get it working in blogger. Then I found a kit I wanted to use (Lovebirds by Zoe Pearn and Shawna Clingerman) and asked the designers permission to use it for my blog. They didn't have a problem with it :) If you're interested, pm me and I'll send you the link for the blogwear. My blog is here - don't look from your phone/ipad, though, for some reason it doesn't look right on mobile devices.
