Sitting here in my house because it is sooo hot outside and I have nothing better to do I was thinking about a bucket list I made a few years back for a scrapbooking challenge one of the things is that I wanted to ride as many roller coasters in the US as I could. And I got to thinking how cool would it be to be able to do this as a living? Not long ago there was a job listing here in Florida where you were paid to go to various places and post on a blog. Seriously cool job. So yea roller-coaster tester would be it for me LOL

Oooh I wanna be a roller coaster tester too! World wide baby - no reason to limit myself! Lets be partners!! LOL :) Either that or Seaworld performer! I wanted to do that when I was a kid - I love dolphins and whales and would LOVE to interact with them daily!!

LOL Jen. If I ever got rich worldwide would be the plan :) Ive done pretty much everyone in Florida many times. Well the big parks anyhow

i'd love to be a personal shopper or an interior designer. i love to pick out stuff for other people. not so much ME, but other people.

Astronaut. I would love to go into space. Another would be a travel photographer. I would love to travel the world, just taking pictures.

my dream job really would be to be a photographer, but have an assistant/s to do all the "after" processing work and keep up wih all the business stuff :D I just want to take the pictures! I just want tto take the pictures, and see the people's faces when I had them their actual prints :)

I want to be a secret shopper. I would get to spend my company's money & grade the performance of someone else. Okay I really want to bust the people who give poor CS. LOL

But my for real dream job is a teacher's aide. I'd get to do the fun stuff like teaching small groups, etc. But I wouldn't have to plan it!! :) Or work check out at Target.

Mari astronaut would be pretty cool if there was a guarantee to make it back to earth. Seeing the earth from outer space...yea that would be awesome.

Is there a job that pays you to travel? Like all over the world, all expenses paid. Yeah. That is what I want. Oh and I take whoever I want with me. There has to be a guest(s) pass too. :) Whatever that job is........I want it! :)

Tara too funny :) Wouldn't it be awesome though? Id go to Switzerland, France, Germany, Ireland....oh heck pretty much all of Europe then fly to Australia and then Hawaii and Alaska. I love living here in Florida and realize a lot of people long to come here but seeing other things and other places would be amazing as well

If I didn't have to have my day job, but could just work for "fun" I would probably work in a bookstore. I wouldn't have a paycheck to bring home, but...

All out silly job, hmm, probably something that would allow me to travel and review restaurants (but not gain any weight)!

My perfect job would be the caretaker of a tropical island getaway that the owners rarely visited. I would need to have a large crew to do the heavy work and bring me my drink by the pool. I would mostly focus on organizing the staff to do the actual work. Would be even better if my owners had properties around the world and I had to travel and check on them all. Yep, my dream job is to do as little work as possible. :)

I pretty much have it.. I love having the ability to be creative and get to do something new each week.. I guess my dream would be to be able to have the time to do it and not have it interfere with being a mom and spending time with my kids too so that I had a healthier balance with it all...

That or surf the net and get paid for it :P

ditto this. exactly.

I have it! This was my dream job--to be a graphic designer in the scrapbooking industry. I love scrapbooking paper. Now I make scrapbooking paper!!! I majored in Legal Studies in order to become a lawyer, but my heart wasn't in it--I wanted to be a SAHM. Then when I was 30 I found a way to do what I always wanted--Art! I shouldn't have let my mom talk me out of art school all those years ago... :(

pssh had you done that you might not have ended up where you are now ;)

Things have a funny way of working out. I went to art school and after a year realized just how different the art world is from what I thought it was and so I am glad how things worked out for me :)

I have my dream jobs :)

Now that I am actually employed by someone other than myself, I consider that my first job. I LOVE working for the school. The hours are awesome, the time off... well, it couldn't get much better than getting 3 months off for summer as well as various breaks all year!! I get to work with kids which I really enjoy but I am not directly responsible for 30 some students. I get to work with a few at a time in small groups or one on one and I really enjoy that. I love seeing 'my kids' when we are out and about. We were at an amusement park yesterday and it happened that the family in front of us was the family of a former student. It's great to get a hug and hear "Mrs. Tierney!!" :) Love it. :) My grandma worked with troubled kids her whole life, not on a professional basis but on a personal basis. She took it upon herself to help every kid who was struggling and she pretty well accomplished that for our area anyway. I always worked along side her and she always said I should work with struggling kids. In my job I take care of the detention/ISS room and so I do work with struggling kids. Some are struggling in behavior and others academically (they send me kids that need a little extra help outside the classroom too) so I get to help kids and I love that. :)

My second job is the digi design gig. I am laying low and not considering myself a 'career' designer these days (I once worked 40+ hours a week at my design business, now it is maybe 3 hours a week) but I still reap the benefits. I have the ability to run my own business and I have an awesome creative outlet that brings in a little money to boot.

Of course, the job I always wanted, the one I told everyone I wanted to be when I was a kid and they asked that 'what do you want to be when you grow up question'... that's a mom :) I've had that job for 10 years now and it is a pretty sweet gig sometimes. It is much harder than I ever imagined but the rewards are great. :) Too bad THIS job doesn't offer any time off.

Sherri I remember telling everyone I wanted to be a mom too from the time I was little. I honestly cannot remember a time when I did not want to be a mom. And having such an amazing and funny husband helps too.

You're right--I didn't go into graphic design because I was in school in the late 90s and it looked boring. I knew I didn't want to make logos for people and work on projects that didn't inspire me. I have a hard enough time handling simple requests from clients and customers now and I resist themes. They are so hard for me! I'm weird like that. LOL!

I really loooove the way things are now with the internet--all the cottage industries and doors that are open to people because they have a computer and there's a website out there that's just perfect for them... it's so amazing.

And because of all that, I could do art AND follow my heart!

I  that you designers  being designers :) I did go to art school in college, but only lasted a semster cause I enjoyed it as a hobby and didn't want to have to "work" towards my creativity .....that is why I LOVE the designers here or really anywhere) cause I know it is hard work and they pour their heart in to it

Yep, I have a pretty amazing husband myself and that definitely helps. I went through this period in my late teens though where I honestly felt like I would be an 'old maid' and was destined to be alone. I was just determined that I would either adopt or something. I was still determined to be a mom. It is so funny to me now to think that I ever felt like that (the old maid bit) because I was 20 when DH and I moved in together and 24 when we got married, I was far from being an old maid. :) I still love being a mom but there are days my kids drive me crazy. Despite that, I'd love another one!

I think I'm kind of digging the trust fund idea too ... especially now that I actually understand the value of money, hard work, etc ...

Me too Sherri but I am not sure I could handle another one after losing one. My family was complete and now it doesnt feel like it is anymore. I cannot have kids after a tubal (and 15 years Im pretty sure its not happening). Plus my health is just not what it was.

I think Id cry if you quit designing LOL

interior designer
international travel photographer
founder and president of an foster/adoption advocacy group
founder and (financially successful!) owner-operator of a brick 'n' mortar digital scrapbooking store/cafe
foster mom
digital designer
singer-songwriter
model :p

Trophy wife... :p I've got the wife part down... but I want the "funds" that makes the trophy part... ;)

Otherwise... I would LOVE to be a set designer for a tv sitcom... I spend more times looking at the backgrounds than watching the show sometimes... seeing names of things, especially on food boxes, cracks me up!!

Or I would love to be a food stylist... I think it's so cool that they use things like mashed potatoes to make "ice cream" on shows...

Or any job that would make my dream of living in London a reality...

I want a job that pays me to pursue my hobbies, whatever they may be. Right now it would be digital scrapbooking (just for myself, not making pages for others), but with 40 paid hours a week to "work" I'm sure I could branch out to add photography, crocheting, and maybe some fun form of exercise, like swimming or hiking.

I'm another who always wanted to be a mom, and through high school and college I thought I'd make a career of teaching preschool or the early elementary school grades. But even before having kids, I realized that I wouldn't have the patience to be the kind of mother I wanted if I spent all day teaching. I've since come to realize that I'll be happiest in a job that lets me help people without being surrounded by them all day, but I have no idea what job I'm qualified for that might realistically allow me to do that. I guess I have about 2 more years to figure it out before my youngest starts full day school and I go back to work!

Maybe I'm on a Mamma Mia hangover (saw it yesterday) but I would LOVE to be a performer in a musical like that. Not one of the lead people, just a background person who gets to sing and dance and have fun. And travel. Too bad I cant carry a tune....

I would also love to just make crafts for people...build things...wood, fabric, paint, canvas, etc....be creative and have people love it and want to buy it!

But I also love what I do now...I get to be creative and stay at home with my kids. It is stressful sometimes because I dont always feel like I have enough time, but it always works out ok.

:( I can't even imagine. :(

My family has never felt complete. I think that's what bothers me. I said when I was pregnant with Declan that I wanted one more. I said it the day he was born. I've said it every day since. We've tried for almost 5 years for that next baby and it hasn't happened. At this point I honestly don't think it will. I have had so many 'girl' issues that just keep getting worse. I have to call my GYN tomorrow in fact because I'm on day 23 of a period that doesn't seem like it is going to end. 23 days of extremely heavy bleeding isn't fun. :(

Anyway, I'm trying to be content with what I have. I have my angel waiting for me when I get to Heaven and I have an awesome step-son who is still very much part of the family even though we don't get to see him much these days (he's 20 now!). I'd love a chance to have one more but I'm 38 now and I just don't know... it is possible still, but not very probable and I'm beginning to think I'm too old to go through it all again. My 'baby' is going in to 1st grade, you know?
