Smash Books

Does anyone else use the K & Company Smash Books to do some traditional or hybrid scrapping? I bought one to use for our Summer Vacation and I'm kinda stuck on how to start. I'd love to see what others are doing and what fun supplies you are using in your books.

I'd love to hear what others are doing and if you have pics could you please link me up? TIA!

I have bought 2 for my daughter that she uses to fill with her stuff. I bought a bunch of the smash stuff that goes with it. I love that I will have books to put up that she has filled with stuff about her and one day she can pass them on to her kids. They have been perfect for that.

I don't have an actual smash book, but a sketchbook that I've turned into a smashbook type art journal. I need to get some pictures taken

Thanks, Ru!

Yes. Yes, you do!

lol, the only time I ever think about taking them is either late at night when I have no lighting, or like today...when I've got a disaster of a mess out because I'm working on it, lol

ETA: if you mention something at chat this weekend, I'll try to take them when I do this week's PL spreads and have everything out.

I take "in progress" pics all the time! Did you notice the newspaper under my book?! LOL!

Honestly, I think it helps to use my iPhone's camera. It's so much better at catching the light. :)

I've got tons of in progress pics, but I don't really like sharing pages until they are 'done', KWIM? :o I guess because it's such art therapy for me that it's hard to let people see it until I know what it's become.

I love my iphone camera, but I'm trying to force myself to use my real camera as much as I can. I found it incredibly sad that in 2011 I literally only took pictures 15 times the entire year

I'm liking doing the in-progress pictures because I think it's fun to see the process... I think I'm going to post them on my scrappy blog

Lots of inspiration here ladies - thanks. I think I'm worried I'm going to create something I don't like and it will be permanent in my book. LOL - there's no undo button.

ETA - I would love to see in process photos and ready about how you go about layering your stuff on your pages.

I have a couple of pages I don't like, but just keep telling myself it's the sum of the parts...

Also, some of the pages in the book I didn't care for, so I just cut scrapbook paper to size, built my page on that and then taped the completed page into the book.

embrace the ones you don't like, perfectly imperfect... or play with them some more until you like them :)

Amy - I didn't like some of the papers as well. I hadn't thought to paint them like Nicole or cover them entirely. I'm sooo glad I started this thread. Can't wait to see your works in progress.

Yes! Great idea!

The reason I turned my Smash book into an art journal was because I wanted some patterns to peek through... but not all. It's a lot of fun to paint over them! :w00t:

Ok, pics.

I'm trying hard to make sure there's lots of goodies sticking out the side...

Amy - I just LOVE your book. This is exactly the direction I wanted to go for my vacation book. I'm so glad you shared. This is great!!

:o Thanks.

It's been very time consuming and tons of fun.

There are several pages that I don't 'love', but I love the overall feel of it...

I need to do one, like an art journal kind of one though. I think it could be very good for me and maybe it will get my design mojo going again. :)

I have the stuff to take with me to Oregon, not asure I will get the pictures printed, but we will see...since it is kind of a laid back family vacation, I think it might be fun! especially to have the kids put their input and make their own pages....
