Saving LO's as high res jpeg

So, I have TONS of LO's that I need to save as high res jpegs. My question is- do you immediately save as a high res jpeg and delete your psd/tiff file?
 
I always save a hies jpg when I finish a layout. I flatten, sharpen just a titch and save the hies jpg. Then, I resize and do my Save for Web routine. I still keep my layered files, but that's just personal preference. I have plenty of space for them, so I don't worry about getting rid of them. :)
 
So when you save as high res jpeg the file is not flattened? i need to write an action to do all of this but Im so not good at it. Boo.
 
I save everything high res, save for web for galleries, then delete anything layered. Also delete all the save for web stuff after it is uploaded.

JPEGs by default are flattened. I think the reason Lydia mentioned flattening is because she's sharpening the JPEG before saving. So if all you wanted to do was save your layered PSD file as a JPEG, you wouldn't need to flatten it first. You could just write the action to duplicate the file and then save as a JPEG.

As far as me, I don't save my high res jpeg files until I'm ready to print. I save all layered PSD files though since I use them for templates and such. I just move them to my EHD once they're printed and keep the high res JPEG on my computer as backup to save space.
 
I don't keep anything layered. I should, because of spelling errors, etc, but I don't. Once it's complete, the layers go bye bye!
 
Do I need to sharpen it before saving as a jpeg? And if so, how do I sharpen? Do you use the unsharp mas? I've never been able to get that to work right.
 
I don't sharpen before saving as a jpeg and I've always been happy with my printed layouts. I only sharpen the web version.

As far as saving goes, I keep the layered file until I've printed the layout. Once I have a hard copy in my hands, I delete the psd/tiff and only save the jpeg.
 
I keep my .psds until Saturday... I have an action for saving my hi res layouts... so I do a batch save of everything I've already uploaded to the galleries that week... then delete the .psd.

I save my save for web until I'm posted them on my blog which is always the last thing I do, usually after I've saved my hi res jpg

I don't ever go back and correct errors unless I've caught it before uploading to the galleries... so I've just made this a part of my routine on Saturdays... upload SSD stuff to the galleries and link and then clean up my desktop... I keep everything on my computer and use my EHD as my backup so I need the room :)

the action I have sharpens it slightly... using the unsharp mask, but I don't think you have to if you're happy with how they print up w/o sharpening :)
 
I do exactly what Lydia does....even after I print I have this "thing" about deleting the TIFF file~! but I really should just get over it...but the reason I don't is I almost ALWAYS go back and do another page with the same kit, so I just take my already shadowed elements form the 1st LO and bring them over to my 2nd LO and tweak...this way I don't have to spend alot of time shadowing again and I feel better that I have used the kit more than once! And then still I keep both TIFF files!
 
I save as high resolution jpg then resize for web, sharpen & increase contrast then save it. I delete all my layered files. I usually don't go back to them at all and it saves space on my HD and EHD.
