I know there are horrible things happening every single day all over the world. Things that we simply cannot comprehend why someone could do that and of course all the news stations have to go over and over it....I was just thinking wouldn't it be nice if the news did a balance of good news/positive happenings to even out the horrible stuff they have to report on? Every now and then you will hear a good news story...someone did something great. But it doesnt happen every night. I dont know...just thinking today how sad it is that all we ever see on the evening news is gloom and doom.

(and FYI if you now have Beach Boys playing in your head you're welcome LOL)
 
I always think that. For a month we got a free national newspaper. At the end of the month they asked if we wanted to subscribe. We said no, because all they ever printed was depressing/bad news kind of articles. I know that's what's happening in the world, but you kind of get sick of only hearing the sad side of life.
 
it seems like they have been doing better at that this week. showing people that are helping other people in Conn. and during the holidays.
 
I agree with you jessica... it seems like all gloom on the news and then the very last story is a "person of the week"... I would like to see more balance, too. :)
 
I would really like a nice balance -- so many horrible things being reported all the time.

It was my dream to be a journalist, but after my first year of journalism school I switched my major because I didn't want to report on bad news all of the time. I find it especially sad that I can't watch the news when my 2 yr old is in the room because of all of the horrible things happening.
 
I completely agree. That's the biggest reason I don't watch the news. If they showed more good to balance the bad, it might be more tolerable.
 
I completely agree! I saw a video that talked of how we still remember the names of the shooters, but we don't remember the sacrifices that good people do. Even if they just did one good report per page/segment, that would be the beginning. I had to delete the news apps off of my phone because I was getting so upset and angry at all of the news. You can easily lose all faith in humanity by reading the news.
