Whoopie Pies question

What kind of filling did you use?..if it's like buttercream or marshmallow then they should be fine at room temp for a few days if she doesn't want them cold...they freeze really well too.

We actually freeze ours and eat them from the freezer - I make a pumpkin whoopie pie with cream cheese filling, just no chocolate chips :) Refrigerated is fine, we're just weird :D

Any other whoopie pie that doesn't have the cream cheese filling doesn't need to be refrigerated and can be stored in an air tight container.

Well duh..you posted the recipe lol...if it's cream cheese then I probably would put them in the fridge once I got home with them but they should be fine for a few hours at school..is that what you mean? lol It's early and I've only had a sip of coffee so far lol

This recipe has cream cheese in it so maybe I should look for one with buttercream or marshmallow just to be safe.

Like Nikki said, they'll be fine at school for several hours, I just wouldn't store them for days out of the fridge. The cream cheese filling with the pumpkin is really quite awesome :D

Ooh... those look good! I don't think I've ever had a whoopie pie... :D

I, too, think that you will be okay with them not being refrigerated until she gets home - my mom makes carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and has it out all day for my birthday dinner... or you could get a Styrofoam cooler and get/make ice packs to store them until she gets home.

Kind of OT, but does anyone know why they are called 'whoppie' pies? All I can ever think of is 'makin' whoppie' which doesn't seem to have very much of a connection with little cakes.
