Ugh, you're making me look bad. LOL I need to do some meal planning and grocery shopping. I just haven't had the time.

The only thing I know for sure is that tonight we'll do veggie pizza. I have some produce to use up, and Chloe loves helping make pizza dough.

Other than that, I've got NO ideas.

WOW!! Kudos to you that plan your meals! I don't plan meals. Most of the time I just cook by what DH asks or whatever is in the fridge...
Julie, looking at your plan, can I come over to have dinner at your house? All those food sound delish!

If you aren't picky and will eat what I'm serving then you are welcome any time!!!

I always have a plan and then someone throws a wrench in it and it falls apart. Veggie teen will probably not like what I picked and pout and then make her own dinner and not want to eat with us. I try and that's what counts....right????

AH... picky eater! I know how you feel about picky eater. I'm hoping that my son won't ever be a picky eater, so far he's doing great with whatever I serve him.
And no, I'm not picky! I'd eat whatever is being served on the table ;) I just wish I live closer to you! LOL!

I feel for you, Juli! I have 2 picky children (who are picky in completely different ways) and a picky husband, I'm a vegetarian, and DH and I try to eat low calorie meals. On top of that, DH and 1 child won't eat combination foods; they need their meat in this part of the plate and their veggies over there. If I was willing, there'd be 4-5 different meals here every night!

I cook something for myself and make 1 meal for the kids and DH. About twice a week DH makes himself something else, and the kids know they can choose peanut butter sandwich or yogurt if they taste what I've made and don't like it. Any of them is welcome to eat the meal I make for myself, but only 1 of them likes some of what I eat. My meals for them are so boring, but they won't eat anything else. Trying something new is an exercise in frustration; if it has meat I won't eat it, DH prefers to stick to his favorites, and so if the kids don't like it (which they often don't) I throw it all away. So yeah, I stick to boring.

All of that said, I'm not positive about this week yet. I'll buy meat tomorrow, which will influence a few of our meals.

Monday
Pasta, garlic bread, broccoli, and grapes
I'll have eggplant parmesan with broccoli and grapes.

Tuesday
Beef or chicken, beans, mixed vegetables, and watermelon
I'll have a vegetable and tofu stir fry (which I'll make tonight and eat for the next few days).

Wednesday
Leftovers night for DH and the kids (something made with Tuesday's meat), vegetable sticks with hummus, and bananas
Veggie and tofu stir fry for me

Thurs
Breakfast for dinner, probably chocolate chip waffles and scrambled eggs, apple slices, and salad
Veggie and tofu stir fry for me
DH will probably make himself fish and broccoli.

Fri-DS gets to choose for his birthday, so it's likely to be pasta

Saturdayestaurant

Sundayotisserie chicken and bakery bread for DH and the kids
Restaurant leftovers or an egg white omelette for me

I've only planned three meals, I don't normally even plan that far in advance ;)

Parmesean crusted chicken with provolone, spaghetti and marinara
Chicken fried steak with country gravy, mashed potatoes and a vegetable
Chili

I'm not a planner at all, I try every once in awhile and last about a week usually.

The nights that I work, we usually just have something easy like chicken tenders and rice or spaghetti or tacos. Tonight I have a crock pot chicken recipe with stuffing & green beans in it.

This thread has me wanting to menu plan now!

I plan three meals a week, then we do breakfast for dinner on Thursday's and leftovers or simple things like quesadillas or sandwiches on the weekends.

This week, I asked the kids for suggestions and told them to keep it simple. So, tonight we're having corn chowder in bread bowls, tomorrow is Taco Tuesday, and we'll have fettuccine on Wednesday.

We are getting ready to go out of town on Thursday, so it's cleaning out the fridge week and eating out of the freezer.

Going to have breakfast tonight (Chocolate Chip Pancakes) and tomorrow some frozen soup with stir fry!

Yum!

And my 8 year old son is a PICKY eater. He will not eat anything combined. It all has to be al-a-carte. I cook for DH and I and then make something boring for my son (usually related to our meal). So if we have burritos or enchiladas, my son gets a quesadilla, black beans, and broccoli. I love to make soup & bread for myself and DH so when I do that my son has a favorite noodle soup and he will always eat any fresh bread I make! :p

Monday: sloppy joes
Tuesday: taco
Wednesday: potato soup
Thursday: potato bar
Friday: pizza
Saturday: eat out day
Sunday: breakfast
Monday: beef stew

That's what I just got home from buying ingredients for at the commissary. We have tacos every Tuesday, pizza every Friday, eat out on Saturdays and have breakfast every Sunday. We are serious creatures of routine, plus my 5 year old has a lot of food anxieties so we try to keep it on a routine. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are our wildcard days, but even those are almost always chosen out of about 8 different dinners

I didn't really plan this week... I just grabbed a few different kinds of meat/veg and will just figure it out as I go. I *think* I have everything to do sausage & peppers on rice, some grilled chicken strips w/ couscous & salad, homemade pizza w/salad, chili lime chicken burgers, chili, and breakfast for dinner.

Hubby is pretty much only eating meat for a few weeks trying to drop some lbs....oh how I wish I could do it as easily as he does, but I can't.

So...I stocked up on meat and veggies today.

Monday: Pork chops, cabbage w/bacon
Tuesday: Steak, salad
Wednesday: Grilled chicken, Broccoli w/cheese
Thursday: Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night for the school
I never cook at our house on the weekends...we usually eat out or at a friend's house.

I have some baked potatoes to throw in where needed if L.J. wants a little more meal.

I haven't done much meal planning this week but since I have leftover potato salad and tuna macaroni salad I will bbq some chicken tomorrow. "Wed I will make a big batch of chili and freeze a few extra meals of the leftovers. That's the extent of my planning this week.

I have really been trying to meal plan and cook more. My kids have gotten super picky and I am trying to break that habit now. It is not totally working but we are trying here is what is for dinner this week (I start with Sunday:)

Sunday
Broccoli and Beef Stir Fry with Rice

Monday:
Chicken, Black Bean, and Corn burrito Wraps
Cheesy Refried Beans

Tuesday:
Leftovers?YOYO because it is soccer practice

Wednesday:
Easy Does It Slower Cooker Spaghetti
Garlic Bread

Thursday:
Lemon Chicken
Aspargus

Friday:
Usually we snag Sonic because Friday nights are soccer games.

Saturday:
Elegant Pork Chops with Potatoes and Salad

I have been using emeals meal planning service. The Kid-Friendly menu. Which is apparently husband friendly too. He doesn't eat turkey, any kind of fish or shellfish, or meat off the bone. And he is picky about veggies too. Whatever meals I don't want to do, I sub in a recipe from Pinterest or tried and true recipe. Seems to be working so far. Also trying to eat more at the dinner table together. Jon and I have committed to three days a week so far until campaign season and soccer season are over.

I dont plan meals, i just cook whatever is on the fridge, but i did shop for the whole week. This planning thing seems to be so easy. I should try it. :)

So far this week we have had Chicken Pesto Pasta (what DD5 calls 'pisto pasta'), meatloaf & mashed potatoes, and Chicken Tacos. We'll have leftovers Thursday night and pizza Friday night.

I plan about a week... this is how this one is going...

Sunday - Pizza Night/Left Over Smoked Pulled Pork Sliders. YUM (DH smoked it this weekend)
Monday - Beef/Mushroom Stroganoff over Egg Noodles, and Roasted Zucchini.
Tuesday - Either Hot Dogs/FF/Fruit or Breakfast for Dinner - Soccer Night
Wednesday - Enchilada/Quesadilla Night with Rice and Beans
Thursday - Fake Chicken Cordon Bleu with Broccoli, Smashed Potatoes

Then, we have a eat out/take out night, and also whichever isn't eaten on Soccer Night (breakfast or Hot Dogs).

The Stroganoff was a new recipe and was a hit, so that's a keeper!

Let's see we had/will have:

Sunday - Cheddar corn chowder with salad
Monday - Spaghetti and red sauce with salad
Tuesday - Balsamic chicken thighs with smashed potatoes and butternut squash (trying to use up the stuff from my garden!)
Wednesday - Tortellini soup with vegetables and spinach (in the soup)
Thursday - Taco night
Friday - Probably pizza since we'll be headed to the HS football game
Saturday - Not sure yet since grocery day is Thursday :D

Ok, I have to ask, does meal planning 1 or 2 wks ahead of time save you ladies $$$ when grocery shopping?

Ok, I have to ask, does meal planning 1 or 2 wks ahead of time save you ladies $$$ when grocery shopping?

It does for me because I plan my meals around what is on sale and I can buy things in bulk, which is cheaper. I shop every 2 weeks when I get paid and stick to a detailed list and I don't deviate. I ask DD what she wants for lunches at school and for breakfast in the morning and stick to what she says, etc. I also pick 2 or 3 snacks for the 2-week period and she knows once they're gone they're gone. I always have raw veggies and hummus for snacking too.

On saving money, yes. Knowing what I'll be serving each night helps prevent over buying and letting things go to waste. It also helps me get everything in one grocery store trip so that I know exactly what I'm spending; multiple trips always add up to more than I'd spend in one big trip. We have a schedule rather than a detailed plan. When meal planning gets too time consuming I stop doing it, so what works for me is to have this schedule and then make decisions while I'm at the store and can see what's on sale.

Mon-pasta
Tues-meat or chicken
Wed-leftovers
Thurs - breakfast for dinner or Mexican night
Fri-"kid food" like chicken nuggets or hot dogs
Sat - dinner out
Sun - breakfast for dinner (if we didn't have it Thurs), rotisserie chicken, soup and sandwiches, or DH grills

For me, yes. I work off of my meal plan for the week, and we only go to the store the one time. I also shop what is on sale, and use Coupons/Grocery Game to save more money. I buy what is on my list, and try not to buy random things.
