What year do you put school pics in???

I put the fall portrait in the album of year that it was taken. So this coming year the photo will be taken in early October 2012 and will go into our 2012 album. I always take a last day of school photo myself in June, so that will go into our 2013 album.

we do fall and spring photos here so I guess it would depend on whether it was the fall photo (earlier year) or spring photo (later year)

I do calendar years too. So for school pics, it'll go in 2012. But last day of school pics will go in 2013. I think the same as the others.

I do everything by calendar year. Whenever the school trip took place, it would go in that album. Awards would be done based on when the award was actually given. I think I do it the same as Marie.
This is how I would do it. My layouts are named year-month-day-title, (e.g. 12-06-23-School trip) so it's all chronological. If the photo is taken in 2012, then put it in the 2012 album.

For my kids, now that they are school aged, I do their albums by school year. I like having all of one grade's pictures together. My daughter was born in the summer so its easy for her to go from birthday to birthday in one album and that includes all of the school year. My son has his birthday in the middle of the school year so that doesn't work as well. HOWEVER, I make their school albums separate from their every day albums. In other words, I have a family album that runs January through December and then each kid has a school album for that school year. Those albums serve as their personal albums. I look back on things in my life according to what grade I was in so I set theirs up this way too.

I'm another who does it by the actual date of the portrait, trip, etc. But there are exceptions.
-Our portraits are taken in the fall and our class pics in the spring. I like to keep them together in the fall album.
-I often do LOs that span multiple school events (ie, samples of schoolwork from throughout the year or all the class parties I helped at). The I decide on a case by case basis. If one half of the year is featured more (like showing 1 fall writing assignment and 3 spring assignments) I put it with that half. If things are equal I'm likely to put it in the spring's year and think of it as a look back at the entire school year.

Yep - you do the same as me
I do a photo book for each year so everything is done according to year. I don't have enough photos of school events to make it worthwhile doing a photo book of JUST the school stuff. Now sports is a different story!
