What makes you buy a kit?

I'm just curious... for me, it's mostly:

1) an alpha with individual pngs
2) lots and lots of flowers
3) wood among the selection of papers

Of course I have to like the colors, too (that's mostly what gets my attention first), but when it comes to buying or not, these three points are my main criteria. What makes you buy?

themes to a certain extent - I won't buy many winter kits with snow for example
nice clear colors
clear designs (I don't really like the super realistic stuff or the really cartoonish designs
 
I've become pretty picky about the kits I buy. I look for:
- great colors and patterns
- unique elements
- a good selection of flowers
- a nice matching stitching is a definite plus
- good wordart or 3x4 card that can be used as titel
- a few themed elements
 
The kit preview is usually what decides it for me - I don't often read through the contents of the kit, rather I go by what I see in the preview. So, it's probably the colour combo that draws me in first (if it looks pretty (to me) I'll take a closer look), and the theme (I'll always have a good look at boy kits). I don't really look for specific items - if it's pretty/visually appealing to me overall, I can work with whatever is in the kit.
 
I'm picky, too. I've been digiscrapping long enough that I have quite a stash already, so I buy less than I used to. I look for:

-great colors
-fits a need (ie, a theme or color scheme I don't have, it replaces a kit I've used too many times for frequently scrapped topics like birthdays or tween boy pages, etc.)
-good value for the money since my scrapping budget is limited
-includes elements beyond flowers
-something I can see myself reusing for multiple pages
-if I plan to use it for Project Life pages, there are cards available at a reasonable price that include lots of journaling space

Definitely colour first. I am very visual and I like multiple colors, I am not a great fan of monochromatic kits. I need some opposite colors going on, with some black or grey or brown to anchor it.
The look of the preview. I must admit, I usually judge a book by its cover in this at least - If I like the look of it, it is probably going to get a second look.
Lots of flowers and lots of foliage. I love the flowers but if there are 20 flowers and only 1 leaf, that drives me nuts!
and Alphas. I have been known to buy a kit that I am so-so on just to get an awesome alpha.
 
For me...it's:


*Theme - unique ones, boy ones, holiday ones

*Unique elements (love me some grunge, paint, realistic bits and bobbles) - I bought one kit a month or so ago because it had the most awesome crochet flower banner!

*Colors - I like colors that are a little muted or grungy or patterned up, with a little surprise, not too matchy matchy. and my son loves orange. I don't buy much purple, although I love pink in Christmas kits.

My # 1 thing is to only buy what I know I can use right away.... when I was a paper scrapper I bought a ton of supplies cause it was 'cute' but had no idea what I was going to do with it and that made it no fun cause even though I had lots of supplies nothing ever worked with the photos that I took. #2 is how much use I can get out of it.... if I can take a kit (especially a themed kit such as Christmas) and use it for other non holiday related pages then I'm very happy. #3 would have to be style.... I like the kits that are slightly darker in hues, rustic, grungy (especially Grungy). :) Then of course like you, color comes in to a factor.... I only have boys, and though I don't mind using flowers and bling on my pages, I do not like them so much when there is a lot of girly colors or super feminine groupings.
 
Colour - I only really buy 'boyish' colour kits now.
Flowers - I like flowers and feel lost if a kit doesn't at least have a few in.

I like a few cards in there as well, I used to hate them at first but love them now lol.
Some pretty pattern papers.
A few word strips, sometimes I can't afford to buy everything separately.
 
For me-

Can I use it? (Teens, versatile, self-improvement/ emotions, travel, etc.)
Color- not tacky- blue somewhere in the kit, enough neutrals to tone it down if I need to
Very few flowers- I literally have thousands of flowers and seldom use them.
Alphabets- I will buy a kit based on the alphabet and one or two elements
Elements that are unique or that have been finished with an unique touch- most kits have elements that I can find in other kits, so for me to buy them, there has to be something unique about how they are finished or used
Journal cards, project life cards, etc.- somewhere to write with lots of space
word strips - and at least one empty strip to add what I need, a title is nice
stitches, fastener- not really ribbon, unless something unusual
good value for the dollar
 
If it has a good selection of flowers, foliage, a few journal cards (or a lot), word art, scatters, unique elements and colours I like, I'm likely to buy the kit.
 
for me, it's mostly if there are lots of papers to choose from, especially a plaid or a good stripe. Also, large pretty flowers get me every time too. The number of elements helps as well

I forgot this in my first response, but papers are part of it, too. I rarely use large scale bold patterns, so I look for things like stripes, dots, other nice small scale patterns, subtle larger scale patterns, and solids. I also like for several of the patterned papers to include all of the colors in the kit as a way of tying all the colors together. Some kits only have 1 or 2 papers like that.

A very large selection of elements. Unique alphas, and something that works for both boys and girls.
 
I look for kits with lighter colours and neutrals - especially black and white papers and elements. Once I like the colours, I check out the page samples to see how I might use the kit.

Lots of factors mentioned above for me, but to add a new one to the list...doodles! I'm a sucker for doodles. If the kit has some awesome doodles or (even better) a coordinating doodle set, I'll be buying it! :)
 
kits that
- goes with my photos
- my style (food, aam, hertiage, girl talk, dogs, life to name a few)
- attractiveness
- I'm a big fan of elements
 
Because i'm rather new to this, i'm looking for theme kits matching my photo's.
Colors attract my attention.
I love pretty flowers and wordart items.
A kit has to have a lot of versatile elements.
