what color is your ceiling?

Thinking of needing to paint in the house... I grew up where the ceilings are always white, or in the house we are in now, a very light tan - same color as the walls.

So, do you stick with white/beige... or do you change it up? Whatever color of the walls, is the color of the ceiling? I have dark maple coloring woodwork... so thinking along the lines of the gray family... hmm

dirty white. I'm a fan of crisp white ceilings or a light color for a fun contrast, especially if you have crown moulding and such.

Mine are all white popcorn stuff, but one of our goals is to get rid of all of that and paint the ceilings in light, light, light colors that coordinate with the walls.

Mine are all white like the walls. I tried painting once. It was wonderful for a week before I had to start priming before we moved. I don't bother any more. Though I love seeing everyone elses.

My ceilings are a slightly off white. I do have a warm silver metallic paint on the ceiling in my master bathroom, though. Love that.

Butter yellow in the living room (same as the walls), tan in the foyer (also same as the walls), and white in the other rooms.

Mine are all drop ceilings except in the bathrooms where they are cream to match the walls. If I ever convince DH that the convenience of being able to move wiring & duct work around easily does not outweigh the ugliness of the tiles, my ceilings will be white.

But it's been 16 years & so far no luck.

When I moved into my house, every single room in the house was an off cream color with one super dark 'accent' wall. Every single room. I painted every room a different color and all the ceilings are a nice, clean white. It looks wonderful.

White here in every room. Some rooms have popcorn ceilings, some rooms have drop ceilings and some rooms have other textured ceilings, but all are white. We don't have a white room in the house (unless you count the room I'm going to paint tomorrow that is currently white with primer )

Our ceiling and walls are all the same color, kind of a light cream, and with our 10 foot ceilings I don't mind it. But our last house had all the same color, a medium tan, and with the low ceilings it just didn't work. I would have preferred white.

I've never painted a ceiling but I've heard it's a major pain in the butt.

oh, ok. Thanks! Kinda looks like vermiculite ceilings that older homes here have. On a renovating show here called 'The Block' they have to turn an old motel into luxury apartments, and they had to remove the vermiculite ceilings to put in soundproofing - all the contestants hate it!!! lol

My ceilings and walls are white (We rent a condo). I have seen some awesomely painted ceilings on Pinterest, though. Like, you know how you can paint one wall a fun color as an accent? Some people paint their ceiling a fun color as the accent

Ours are like a dirty white/cream color and I don't like it! I just painted our baseboards and doors bright white a couple months ago and really wish my ceiling was too. But, we have popcorn ceilings and I'm not painting or scraping those! Btw, our home is only about 10 years old and still has popcorn ceilings. Cheap? Lazy? I don't know! But it's silly!

A few days ago...before we were homeless...ours were crisp and white. I loved them! I will never have cream ceilings again!! We actually scraped our popcorn ceilings, re-textured and then painted them white. It was one of my very favorite things about our house!

I really think it can. A home with crisp white ceilings looks more updated than one with tannish ceilings, same with having the trim be crisp and freshly painted, etc.

We had light tan ceilings in our home in TX. It was OK. But then when I went to paint colors (because it was all the same color-the entire house) some colors wouldn't look good next to the tan. So I painted 4 ceilings white. Paid to have our master bedroom painted white and the crown molding in there. It makes such a difference. Makes it brighter and ceilings higher and more space. So yes its a pain in the butt, but it makes things look fresh and airy. Which can always help sell later. And for me it just changed my mood too, not sure why!
