Valentine's Day

Soooo...do you do anything special with your sweetheart (not kids) for this day? Over the years, we've sometimes gone out to dinner, and sometimes not. Sometimes it's special and sometimes not. Most of the time I leave it up to DH, but this year I want to plan something. It's on a Friday, so dinner out is going to be difficult, but I might still try to make reservations somewhere and can't wait too late to do it.

We aren't that romantic, so anything too mushy would be out. :hugs::wub: This is our 28th V-Day together. :thumbup:

We normally don't do anything over the top. Your typical flowers, dinner (normally cooked by me), cards and then spend the day/evening with each other.

However, that all changed 3 yrs ago. Now we have a birthday to celebrate on Valentine's day. 3 yrs ago this Valentine's day, I received the worlds best gift ever, my daughter Kennedy was born. I told Jay then, that he could only use her as his gift to me for that year, after that I expect something else. lol So now we do a little family bday party for Kennedy as well.

ugh I wish. John was raised by his grandfather that you are supposed to show your love and devotion everyday and not just one a few special ones a year. I'm lucky if I get a card.

Not really. Mostly because we've been too poor to celebrate, but I usually get a box of Girl Scout cookies or something small. A date is the best present for me, so usually that's what we do, but that won't happen this year since we moved away from family who baby sit for free.

Nope, we don't even really recognize it as a holiday. When Kendra was little, I'd get her a little treat just cause most of her classmates got something. But February is birthday month for the Pritchetts. Jeff's was yesterday, mine is Sunday, Chloe's is the 15th, and Kendra is the 16th. So, I *really* don't need one extra day to have to celebrate. LOL

I usually make dinner - something that I know that DH will like... usually steak, if the grill is not under a foot of snow (won't be this year)... or a pasta dish with vodka sauce. Some years hubby gets me something, so years, not... this year we talked and we won't be exchanging gifts... saving up for my new mac!

I write my husband a love letter and usually give him a Reese's peanut butter heart. That's not his love language, it's mine, but he appreciates that I do care enough to take the time to tell him. Other than that, it's just a regular day around here.

We usually go on a date. Last year, we had steaks at home because we had just returned home from vacation. I'm having surgery next Thursday, so I'm thinking Valentine's Day is going to be extra lame this year. Plus, we will be babysitting my eleven year old sister while my parents are on vacation.

We usually exchange small gifts (chocolate and flowers type stuff). Some years we order dinner in and spend the evening together at home; other years not. No idea what we'll do this year-is it too sad to say it may depend on whether there are any games DH wants to watch? 15 years of marriage and no one local who can watch the kids means lowered expectations for "couple" occasions, LOL. It's not really a big deal to either of us.

I hear ya! We never had babysitters so when the boys were young, if we were going out, they came with us. We didn't really start going out on couple dates until our oldest was about 13 and could watch his brothers for an hour or so.

Nope.

1. Nobody to leave Rachel with. I have friends who'd watch her, but I'd feel bad because that would leave them unable to go out and enjoy with their spouse & kids.
2. Robert works nights, so if V-Day falls during the work-week, we won't see each other in the evening hours anyway.
3. Our birthdays fall close to V-Day, so gift-giving is a minimal thing.

Usually we'll go out to dinner as a family, and call it a V-Day dinner (we usually go out on the wknd anyway). A card and some chocolate are about it, but I'm hoping he skips giving me fattening stuff this year.

we take it year by year. he's been gone half the vdays we've been together and the other half we've had a baby. We'll probably just put the kids to bed early and stay up late watching movies and eating popcorn

We usually do minimal gifts(something funny and small rather than thoughtful), cards, and a date. This year we are going to a marriage retreat dinner the wednesday before, so we're doing takeout and video games together on valentine's day

We dont really celebrate valentines day..we save our money for our anniversary in May and tend to do more then

We go out for dinner and I send out cards to friends and family. I usually send flowers to my mother because she likes to show them off at work.

I made this to surprise put up on my dh's work laptop desktop so he will see it on Valentine's day at work. I'm hoping I can get to it early in the morning on the 14th while he is taking a shower or something.
