update on my hand :]

you're like stars
So........ goodness. that was the worst thing ever (ok, probably not EVER.. but seriously).

I'm still dealing with some pain, mostly when you know. trying to use that side of my hand.. to do things like draw.. or write.. or fold towels, oddly.. towels really hurt.. but it's improving daily now. I don't have full mobility of the finger yet, which is concerning. I can't bend it all the way down but I'm trying to remain positive on that front..I do have a referral to a hand surgeon for a consult because we need to be proactive here.. but I no longer have pins and needles in my finger (had that for almost 2 weeks.. was really worried :p ) but I'm thinking at this point it was just because I was SO swollen it was smooshing the nerve. I finally got my stitches out friday, but didn't want to show you guys an updated pic yet because it was a bit bleh and not showing much improvement yet :p today is 14 days since I decided to try to lob off part of my hand.. Still dealing with some light brusing on top (that lovely yellow/green hue you'll see in the pic lol), and some residual heavier brusing on the palm side (which i am not showing you :p ), and if i use my hand too much the whole area swells up and turns a delightfully gross purple colour (also not showing you :p ) Mom thinks that persistent bruise flood grossness is juts because of the coumadin, it shall pass I'm sure.

anyway. here's my updated picture. It looks sooooooooo much better. and yes, i've been picking at the dry skin sorry :p i can't help it :p

(sorry it's a bit dark, it's well.. night time :p )

I averted my eyes from the picture, LOL. I'm glad you're seeing some improvement, but it still sounds pretty bad. Are you supposed to go see the surgeon soon or wait and see how things are healing in a few weeks?

lol it looks way less gross than it has hahah..

the dr urged that i call and schedule an appointment to be on the safe side.. she said it may be something as simple as a tiny bit of hand physical therapy- which just seems bonkers, it's been 2 weeks not 2 months lol. I want to wait a little longer until the swelling goes the rest of the way down since the pins and needles subsided.. but i'm not sure. I may call tomorrow just to see how far out we're looking to be able to get in.

Glad you're being proactive and feeling better. It always seems to take a while to see a new doctor so probably better to schedule the appointment just in case you need it instead of waiting forever to be seen if you were to realize that you really did need it. The pins and needles feeling going away has to be a good sign.

nods.
GRRRRRRR la :cursing:

It does look better but I can definitely tell that it is still pretty swollen.

I agree with making an appointment just in case so that you aren't waiting months should you really need one.

i'm glad it's feeling better !! but i have to ask - what the heck would you do for hand physical therapy??

It might include hand massages - that wouldn't be so bad, huh? Hope the swelling goes down and it's back to normal soon!

I'm glad your hand is getting better! I think the physiotherapy includes specific massages & exercises.

My mom had stroke in January and her right hand was weak. Physiotherapy really helps. Her right hand is still weak, but the rest of the complications that she got from the stroke had alleviated.
