Time Machine Users

Question for those of you who use Time Machine. If you use an EHD for your backups, how did you determine what size EHD to buy? Also, do you use that EHD exclusively for Time Machine backups, or do you have other "stuff" on it as well?
 
We got a 2T time capsule when we set up the time machine. Supposedly once that is full, it will just rewrite over the oldest updates.
 
I usually aim for about double the amount of data I want to back up. That gives me room to keep older backups as well as wiggle room for when I need to replace/upgrade one of my drives so I don't have to replace both at once.

I don't keep anything other than Time Machine backups on my Time Machine drive since those files wouldn't be backed up anywhere and I don't backup my Time Machine drive to the cloud. I have a separate EHD I use for additional storage instead.
 
I use a 2TB EHD exclusively for Time Machine. I've been using it for about 15 months and it's about 35% full.
