The most basic scrapbooking question ever

The way things come together the way you imagined it when starting. And keeping the memories alive (because, you know... forgetting things is real at a certain age, lol), the creative process and also the therapy it gives (scrapping the happy and the sad. I can see the stages of my life in my layouts).

Probably that moment when it tips over from incremental progress to actually telling the story. When all the photos and most of the details are in and it just looks like what I was imagining (or even better than I was imagining sometimes).

Actually, my favorite is technically when my son looks at it and tells me that he loves it but that can come at any time.

I think it's a little bit of everything. Playing with fun goodies, picking a picture, adding the little details... and then not in a bad way, the completed page!

I like when I have the perfect photos, perfect template, and then I chose a kit and it fits everything perfectly! (Like the template had a unique item, and the kit has the exact same item so I don't have to go searching multiple kits).

Otherwise, my favorite is the photos and making my page compliment and not compete with the photos!

I am like Kim, for me, scrapping a layout is the time when I reminisce the moments that the photos captured as well as making something pretty.

I love choosing papers. If I could wallpaper my house in your flower patters, Kristin, it would be the prettiest house in the whole world. It brings me so much joy to have a beautiful bg and see the different patterns coming together. I tend to stall out after I've settled my papers and photos because choosing embellishments feels like such a drag.

I love reminiscing as I'm choosing photos for a layout. My favorite part of building the layout is creating clusters and trying to fit interesting elements into them.

Journaling is my favorite part of creating a layout. I love being able to tell the story that the photos do not. That is the main reason I got into scrapbooking years ago. Journaling is the last thing I do, so I love that feeling when I can finally tell the story.

Finding the photos is a close second. As others have mentioned, I love reminiscing as I'm going through the photos.

I get my cousins every summer for mini one on one vacations. My favourite part of a layout is watching them see their books later in the year. We get to relive their adventures, and they are always so excited to look at every detail.

In the creation of a layout, I love it when I can find the perfect kit(s) to match the photos, the stories and memories.

My favorite part is when I've got all my photos & papers placed, and most of my elements- I take a step back to see what else it needs. I love to find that perfect balance, right at the end, of colors, shapes, textures, etc. Those last few finishing touches (or sometimes taking things away) are so satisfying!

It's when I finish the page, tweak shadows if needed, look at it and think if the photo is right or the background paper should be changed. and if I'm using a template, I check if there were elements from the template that I haven't deleted yet (because that happened to me not once, not twice) 🤣🤣🤣

Other than being creative anyway I like, my most favorite part is when my kids or house visitors pull out a book and look at them. I really love it when the kids share them with their friends and boyfriends.

What is your favourite part of making a layout?

This has probably been asked many times before (who knows.. maybe even by me :P ) I can't remember anything anymore :D
My favorite part is the moment when I could sit back look at it and say it’s done. Because that is the moment when I know it is finished and I am pleased with the final layout result.
