Since I've never made a photo book before

Shutterfly has a free 8x8 photo book free with a code. How small do I make my 12x12 pages to fit it? My pages are 3600x3600 pixels. And normally with these free books how many pages would be in it?

I don't resize my 12x12 layouts for 8x8 books. Since they're both square, you can just upload the bigger image. As long as the image is being made smaller (not bigger) it won't affect the quality.

As long as you're submitting a square page, I don't think you have to resize. Shutterfly will automatically size them to fit. If you prefer to do it yourself, here's a link to info and sizing templates from Shutterfly. I think the free books are 20 pages, though you may be able to pay for additional pages if you want them.

Yep, what the girls said. No need to resize. I create all my pages 12x12, but print 8.5x8.5 photobooks. They all turn out beautifully.
