Random things from a Wednesday morning #2:

* migraine, from the moment I open my eyes this morning, but I think it will get better soon. I hope, at least!
* I made my kid repeat for me the most important thing I always tell him he can never forget. he said (in all teenager way of saying important stuff): I don't know... that you love me? yes, kiddo. that.
* dealing with some real life complication of things that were supposed to be done 4 years ago... grief has no expiration date - no matter what people say.
* if the world wasn't a mess and you could just go and live where you feel you belong, where would that be? me? Italy (I even started duolingo lol).
* make sure to apply moisturizer to your hands - I always forget and my hands were super dry. also: drink water.
* working on my new series with kcb - YAY for that!
* having breakfast talking to one of my best friends on video call is what I call: must have!!
* watching some silly "reality" tv show on Netflix it is what you guys call guilt pleasure. and, yes, I am watching a silly 'reality' tv show and, yes, I feel little guilty LOL
* I have sooo many files saved on my computer and dropbox and cds and dvds - if I had the money, I would totally pay for someone to organize all my files - I don't even know if that is a career... maybe it should be.
* excited because tonight the boyfriend will make a 'cuca de banana com doce de leite' - google it! or just check it here:
images

* I would love to start a small vegetable garden - and also have a place with big space that would allow me to start a small vegetable garden lol
* still way too hot here. working on my pjs/nightgown? I don't know how you guys call it, but yes, I know I am Lucky. :)
* oh!! Mish Mash Mixed Media #1 is on sale. did you guys see it? go check it!
* ok, bye. 09am. let's finish this "Chasing Whimsy: Tiny Wonders" collab. ;)

Omgosh. I would totally love to organize other people’s files… my own is a different story!! Haha

I’ve stopped feeling guilty about my guilty pleasures. They’re just my pleasures now. And they’re weird. And I’m weird. And that’s okay. I started watching Minecraft shows with my kids… now I watch them by myself. I’m 43 and I play Minecraft and watch Minecraft videos on YouTube like my grandmother watched soap operas 🤷🏻‍♀️

I started a vegetable garden years ago and I just can’t do it every year! It was enjoyable at first but then it was more work than what we reaped so I stopped 😫

I loooooove your Mish Mash Mixed Medias… don’t think I have #1 yet!!!

There are no words to express how excited I am to see what you and Kristin are cooking up!!!! 😍😍😍

I do not moisturize or drink water and I’m basically a shriveled up old hag 🤣🤣🤣 WHY is being a human so hard?? This skin prison takes way too much work to maintain!!!

I'm not sure where I'd live if I could choose anywhere. I've only ever lived in South Florida but I am so over the heat here. I think I would miss my swamp cats (alligators) too much if I left though. Also my potato mermaids (manatees) and ability to wear flip-flops year-round. I've only visited snow and never had to shovel or drive in it and I'd like to keep it that way ;)

It's too hot for my garden to survive without extra love and I don't have the energy for it. But my hot pepper garden was such a wonderful thing for me, even if we did accidentally pepper spray my house trying to roast a ghost pepper. (Don't worry; the then-toddler was outside and no one got directly impacted. But "the air is spicy!" is now used to mock me.)

I got a new (to me) car this weekend because we couldn't fit kiddo's adaptive stroller/wheelchair in our old one. It has so many fancy features and I legit did not even realize it had a sunroof until we were leaving the dealership and trying to put my husband's sunglasses away.

I guess my son's IEP is 'done' after over a year since the state declined to get the district to do it right and the district just does not give a damn. I homeschool for a reason but I still need a semi-appropriate IEP so we can utilize the ESE homeschooling scholarship and get him what he actually needs. I could probably hire a lawyer but I am both tired and broke and just so over all of this.

My kid was up almost the entire night and, while my husband was on duty, they both still woke me repeatedly. But we got Wawa breakfast so I have coffee and don't feel too horrific.

Next Friday, my mom is taking my son and I to Gatorland and I am so excited! We haven't been since they built the White Gator Swamp so my precious babies can be outside and still have sun protection. I am betting that I will be buying a photo of us holding a gator and 10/10 will do it happily *and* scrap it. Last time we went, an employee was transporting a cooler full of baby gators to a bigger enclosure and he just stopped us in a hallway so my toddler could pet a baby the same age as he was.

I, too, remind my kid that I love him so he never forgets. I also remind him that he is smart and capable and also that a little sleep wouldn't kill him ;)

I will drink water as soon as I finish my coffee. I pre-gamed coffee with a water bottle so I don't become a sad, wilted houseplant of a person.

I love Gatorland. They do have lots of alligators on display, as well as other species of crocodilians from around the world. They try to strike a balance between being fun and educational; goodness knows watching gators jump out of the water for a snack is a little ridiculous but it also teaches people that gators *can* jump (so don't taunt them). I have a soft spot for gators, as does my son, and want to make sure that he knows to treat them with respect and give them space. They also have a really nice boardwalk through the breeding swamp so we can see (and I can photograph) wetlands birds and plenty of lazy, happy gators. One of our favorite exhibits is the white gator swamp because my son's best friend when he was a baby was Mardi, the white gator at our local zoo, and the leucistic gators at Gatorland are his brothers. I also love seeing the American crocodiles because my dream is to see one in the wild. They're super duper rare, although I've had enough experts throughout the state tell me exactly where to go.

I know it's not everyone's thing but I really love it. Jokes have been made that I give off "trust me with your baby gator" vibes because I have way too many baby gator stories. The first time my son pet one, he was 4 months old and so was the gator! (We were watching the feeding time display and the other kids petting him. Said gator had a mouth full of snack and was enjoying head scratches from the museum employee while my son pet his tail.) There was also his 4th birthday, when we staying in a mesh-sided hut in the middle of the swamp and the guy in the campground reptile exhibit just left us with a baby gator and instructions to "put him in the tank when you're done cuddling and I'll untape his mouth later." (Gators have very little muscle strength to open their mouth; all the power is in slamming it shut. So as babies, a little bit of medical tape around the mouth makes it feel like too much effort to open their mouths. Then they can't nip while being held but they're not being hurt and barely even inconvenienced.)

I've actually hatched a baby gator. My husband and I went to another local-ish gator park where they do a Gator Hatching Festival. They're involved in alligator breeding and population management with the state and have a lot of eggs hatching at the end of the summer. It's a little gross (think spilling egg whites all over your hands while cooking) but also so cool because there is a tiny gator wiggling in your hand. They do give you gloves but it's still a weird feeling.

this all sound sooo fun and sweet... we usually are afraid of what we don't know, right? and, yes, Brasil is not known for it, so it sounds scary too, but you made it sound sweet :)
