our favorite fonts on the blog

After reading Heather Greenwood's post about our favorite fonts for silhouette cutting on the blog, https://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/index.php/2013/05/our-favorite-fonts-for-silhouette-cutting/, which by the way was an excellent post, I downloaded the AW Conqueror font. But the swashy one wasn't in the zip. Has anyone else dl it and did you get the swashy one?

Those are opentype ligatures and not all programs can read them . . . in PS go the character palette and click on the little menu button (top right) . . . select opentype and a sub menu with options will appear

Only Didot and Sans have swashes . . .

I can also put together more detailed instructions with screenshots on all the opentype features tonight and post them in this thread tomorrow morning :)

that would be awesome Maria, I was wondering the same thing :)

if you post something on it, I'll update the blog with a link

Thank you for letting me know Maria! All I have is PSP and apparently it doesn't want to read the swashy font.

I have good news! So I did some research for you and if you have Microsoft Office, those programs can access most of the OpenType features, but not everything.

I tested AW Conqueror out myself on Excel and it worked. I love Excel personally, but you can also use another program, like Word, and type the ligature(s) you can't access in PSP. Then, just save as a jpeg, open up in your Silhouette software, and trace.

Tips on how to use the layered fonts and different ways to customize the swashes are here:

It was way to long to post in this thread, but don't hesitate to let me know if you still need help :)
