NSBR: Georgia Residents, Need Your Help!

Hey y'all. My cousin's mother unexpectedly passed away this weekend. She needs to/is starting the process of taking guardianship of her 7-year-old sister.

For those of you GA peaches here, can any of you give me the name of a good family law attorney? Or have had experience with the foster care system in GA?

Please let me know. She's quite overwhelmed ATM (as you can imagine), so I'm trying to find some information for her.

Where is she located?

Did her mom have a will? If she is next of kin to the little girl she probably won't have a big problem getting at least temporary custody of her..hopefully anyways

No, her mom definitely did not have a will. She is next of kin as I believe the dad was deported... but there are a lot of other legal issues involved.

No advise! As the oldest child with a baby sister 14 years younger than me, I've always feared something like this happening. I will pray for you friend and the little sister.

I live not far from Columbus, GA but, I have a friend not far from Atlanta. She lives in Douglasville GA She has adopted children. I will try to get in touch with her and ask who she recommends.
