Need opinions RE: Paranorman

Did anybody take their kids to see Paranorman? My kids want to see this but I read a review and one person put that some parts might be inappropriate for little kids. So did anybody take their kids (mine are 7 and 5) and would you recommend the movie?
 
Dude we saw it yesterday and my kids loved it (8 and 6) and Finn didn't even get scared. I LOVED it but if you are anti zombies and ghosts and life lessons about how we treat people who are different than we are and who don't believe the way we do, then I'd say skip it.
 
ITA with Traci...we took our kids, 9 and 5, to go see it and we loved it. My kids didn't get scared but they are used to watching paranormal stuff with my husband. I, on the other hand, jumped after a couple of scenes. LOL! I'm a wienie when it comes to scary stuff though.
 
I won't be taking mine to see it. Mainly because movies are really hard on Ryan so unless it's something really big and exciting *cough Avengers* we don't take our kids to the movies.
 
I loved it. My friends didn't. I was actually a bit scared in places, but that's how I am. I think most kids love gross things (like the zombie stuff), so I think they might like it. Depends on the kid definitely. I LOVED the whole "ungly and incorrect" dimension of it, both animation-wise and story-wise. The message (accept people who are different + bullying is wrong) was done nicely - a bit too much explanation for my taste, but for kids it's good they did it this way.
 
I took L.J. to see it and he loved it (7 yrs old). He watches all kinds of weird stuff though.

The opinion I gave to one of my friends who asked was that if your kid is prone to nightmares from watching anything scary...don't take them. If they can go with the flow and think some scary if funny...they will love it.
 
I agree wih Traci, Carrie and Tracy. We went yesterday and even my husband laughed (he rarely joins us for kid movies). My daughter is a scaredy cat so I was a bit worried after about nightmares, but apparently the humor overshadowed anything that may have scared her. No nightmares and everyone enjoyed it.
 
my nephew went and saw it and LOVED it. he's really into all that crap though. my daughters won't be going. emma's grossed out by the previews alone LOL

Yep, that's Rachel right there. She saw the previews and told me 'that's a bad movie with scary stuff.' I'd have said no even if she wanted to see it...it took nearly 3 years for her to get over her fear of the party supply store after going in there near Halloween.
 
My kids really want to see it for Halloween. I might wait until NEXT Halloween when it is on dvd and do it then. We'll see. I know my 10 year old could handle it but my almost 7 year old covers his eyes at some stuff that I don't think should scare him at this point (yet other things I think should he watches just fine) so I'm not sure about him. It looks cute so we might go anyway... we can always leave (or I can with the boy while dad and girl stay to watch it) if he gets too upset.
 
I dont think the scary stuff would bother them. I was more concerned with the some of the more adult content. I read a review that said the boy mentions he was watching something about sex and murder.
 
Yeah but...idk maybe I'm a lax parent but I don't shield my kids from words. LOL If there was actual sex in it, that would be different, but that was said in a joking way and was totally over their heads.
 
my kids don't know what sex and murder are so i wouldn't be alarmed if they heard those words. to see the actions would be different.
