My MacBook Air has been acting up and since I spilled soda on it it's been touch and go wether it turns on or not. SomImneed to have it repaired, which we all know will cost a fortune. They even said if the battery is the cause and needs to be changed, they might not bother fixing it and instead offer me a similar one. But now I'm thinking I might want to upgrade it. Since starting digiscrapping my needs have changed and I think I would prefer a bigger screen and more punch than portability and light weight.

So I'm asking you. If you're using a Mac, or could make the switch from a computer to Mac, which model do you use/would you choose?

I'm also considering to upgrade (from a 6-year-old Macbook) and I'm eyeing on an iMac. I think 27 inch screen is too big for me (not comfortable with a giant computer), but a 21inch is a better size for me. I'd definitely order a customize iMac and max out on the processor speed & choose a fusion drive.
 
Sorry for the accident and the issues it caused.
Since I own macbook air 11", macbook pro 13" and a desktop PC I can tell you that nothing can compare to my desktop PC as long as screen size and comfort are concerned but I can actually do my scrapping projects on any of these as scrapping does not require that much of hardware.
That's why I think you can work perfectly well with any macbook. Probably upgrade to PRO 13 (or 15 if you're not into portability and want bigger screen).
I find the air 11" screen too small for scrappin' and its built (imho) is very fragile. Also, the SSD disks are too limited when it comes to storage so you'll always need an external drive.
As to the PRO series, they really are made for work, not that portable, of course, but the built is great. I'm not sure you'll find any real difference b/ween the two when you scrap.
You probably don't want a desktop (or say iMac), so you might want to consider purchasing a vertical docking station for Macbook and use it as a desktop whenever you want. The henge docks are really good (http://hengedocks.com/). You'll need a monitor, a keyboard and a mouse, of course but the macbook will remain in the docking station so if you spill soda again it won't damage the thing.
 
I have an iMac, but really do prefer the portability of a laptop. The one I currently have is an air 11" and I too find it just a teeny bit to little to scrap and end up zooming in and out multiple times. A 13" I think would suit me better, 15" is too big if I do end up bringing it somewhere. But I love hearing everyone's suggestions and recommendations.
 
I have a 15" MacBook Pro, and that's probably what I'll get again next time I buy. I love the portability of it. Part of me wants an iMac with a nice big screen, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give up the versatility of a laptop. However, next time I upgrade, I am going to max out the RAM and processor speed. I tend to ask a lot of my little computer, so I'm going to make it as powerful as possible.

If I could go with whatever model I wanted regardless of price, I would probably go for the 15" macbook pro with maximum storage and all the trimmings. But since I can afford that I believe my choice will be the 13" with medium storage (I have several external harddrives anyway, and these are safer as they're not ruined if my macbook takes a dive) with most of the trimmings. If I choose to go with a traditional harddrive, I can get the 500gb 15" non retina model cheaper. That will be my plan C I think.

I just bought a new 15" MBP to replace my 2009 model and I love it! I'd been waiting for the new model to come out and they just released the 15" version in May. I used the education site through Apple for a discount and got a faster processor. The Time Machine made for an awesome conversion too.
 
I'm on my second 15" MacBook Pro and that's what I'll likely get again when the time comes for an upgrade. I also have an Apple Cinema Display that I can connect to when I need a larger screen. It's the best of both worlds!
 
Since my birthday is coming up and the insurance company is covering the whole value of my old MacBook, I decided to splurge and get the best version of the readymade MacBook pros. A 15", 2,5 GHz 4 core i7 processor, 16gb RAM and 512gb flash drive. While it was more money than I could comfortably spend on myself, I can see it will be well worth not having to end up with an outdated old thing in a few months. Also, if I ever do get around to starting up my own interior design business I have a laptop than can handle the drawing programs. Also, I didn't have to or want to wait to get up and running again. What with my iMac being packed up for our move and Kristin's CT guesting. Now I have everything In order, all I need now is some spare time to scrap ;)
