Just discovered a laptop function!

I'm in shock! I just discovered that I can right and left click with the touchpad on my laptop. Have they ALWAYS been able to do that? How are we supposed to know little things like that? lol On the lower left and right corners, it actually presses down with a little click like a mouse makes. I was trying to be quiet while using my laptop 'cause Rich is taking a little nap and my mouse clicks rather loudly. He probably wouldn't have noticed it, but I was self conscious of it. Googled how to do something else with my touchpad and came across the nugget of info about right and left clicking with it. Wow.

Who knew?! Not me! :D

I'll also add that the box my computer came in said something about "touch screen." But, it was a gift to me from my older sons and I still don't know if it really is a touch screen or not. I wouldn't know what I'd want to touch on my screen anyway. lol

Just sharing my delight. :hugs:

Nathan, who is 15 and doesn't even use a laptop, just told me they "all" do that. lol
Have they always???
I said, "How am I supposed to know these things if no one tells me???" lol

I'm glad you learned something new! To answer your question, yes, every laptop I've used has had that functionality. You can go into the settings to adjust the touchpad, if you decide you want to enable/disable/change those features.

I immediately challenge you to touch your screen to test whether it's a touch screen :D  Is this a newish computer for you?

That's so exciting, Char! I always love learning new ways of doing things on my laptop as well. I have a MacBook Air and it took me forever to learn how to "save image address"! It is all a learning process for sure!

Sheri, I've ran my finger over it in the past and just tried again. Nothing. Maybe they have two versions of this computer and use the same box for both? lol Maybe the touch screen part would be circled on the box or something if it was. I think I tried looking around in the computer settings in the past (just out of curiosity) but didn't notice anything. Of course, I'm not tech savvy. Obviously. lol

As far as being newish. To me it is. But, I've had it since January '24. lol The last one... I was using for about 14 years. :D

Evelyn, I like learning new things but seem stuck in my ways most of the time. :p I still don't use shortcuts in PhotoShop. :o I'm sure I should!

That's amazing you had a computer that lasted 14 years?! Wow!! It sounds like the model you currently have doesn't have a touch screen. You can tell definitively one way or the other by googling/chatGPT'ing the model number. My work laptop (PC) has a touch screen, but I almost exclusively use it on a docking station with external monitors/keyboard/mouse unless I'm traveling, so I only use it when I'm on a plane or in a hotel room. I use a Macbook for personal use, so no touch screen for me on that front.
