Many of you may have seen my "Don't tell my husband" post that I made back in late October. To recap, my husband was away and my parents came in for a visit. What I thought was a visit to play tourist turned out to be a visit to remodel the first floor of my entire house!

Sadly today my parents left to drive 12-days down through Texas and down along the coast up to Ga to visit my aunt/uncle and then back on their way back to Pennsylvania.

Last night I took a few photos of the finished house. While there are still a few touch-ups and things that need to be put away, the house is beautiful and I'm in love with this house! From the day they got to my house, I was up at 6am doing my mom duties with my children and we worked until 9-10, sometimes 11pm each day! My dad gave me 15-minutes for breakfast, 25 minutes for lunch and 45 minutes for dinner. The rest of our day was working, working, working!

Things done:
-trim removed, repainted or replaced before being put back up

-carpet removed in front entrance/foyer, living room and my husband's office

-linoleum removed from laundry room, front entrance, bathroom, kitchen and dining room

-bathroom was repainted, new sink/counter with new plumbing, new plumbing for the toilet, mirror and lighting

-kitchen was scrubbed down (cabinets) with paint thinner, island cabinet moved further away from the main cabinets/stove to give more room in the kitchen

-all window coverings were taken down, washed or replaced

-laundry room, kitchen, dining room and living room repainted

-entire first floor was floored with porcelain tile that has a wood design

This is the finished results of the house:

I forgot to grab a photo of the kitchen area and my husband's office. Not much to see there, just the flooring. It was a LOT of work. But the end results are awesome!

Now that my parents have left, it's time for me to get caught up on what I've missed the entire month it took us to do all the remodeling. I have a lot of scrapping for my designers (thank you to each of them for being patient with me during this time) and from the looks of it shopping since the Black Friday sale is still happening!!

Looks awesome! When is hubby home? Does he know anything about the remodel?

He came home last week. He had NO idea what we were doing. I picked him up at the airport a little after midnight. It was FREEZING and I told him the garage had broken, making us go in the front door (we still had the wet saw and other tools all over the garage as we weren't finished with the trim and other odds and ends). He wasn't happy the garage door was broken and crankily walked to the front door carrying all his gear. As he opened the door, the first thing out of his mouth was, "you are going to kill your father" and then he just stared and stared at the floor. He couldn't believe what we had done. At first he thought it was just vinyl, which I told him it was porcelain tile that took three weeks to lay and grout. Then he thought my dad had done ALL of the work. The next day my mother showed him photos of me using the wet saw and keeping up with my dad on all of the work. He was shocked that it was a family affair and not just all on my father.

Just today he looked at the floor and commented how much the house has changed just with the tile and the color on the walls. He might not say much, but I really think he likes the change.
