It is so cold...

well, this cold has gripped the nation... here, it has been the coldest in 18 years...schools closed... it is just insane at how cold it is...

My hubby had a doc appointment yesterday and had blood drawn... It is so cold that the blood froze during transit to the lab and unusable... poor hubby- he gets weak at the thought of blood, hates needles and they have a hard time finding veins on him... now he has to go back and get another blood drawn...

So... in your area, finish this sentence... it is so cold that...

it reallyreally sucks to live somewhere that is unaccustomed to being cold [we're in SC]. it's 13 degrees outside and our house is freeeeezing... heat pumps absolutely cannot compare to natural gas heating. you can feel cold air coming in through the electrical outlets! wow. so thrilled to know how amazingly insulated our home is o_O I have the thermostat set at 77 and it's 60 degrees in here atm. you can just imagine my joy... right??

and as if that isn't fun enough... we have well water and because of the cold [and things NOT being properly insulated when they're installed] our pump isn't working... so we have no water. which is waaaay awesome.

It is so cold here that school is cancelled and bubbles freeze.

(I saw the bubble idea online yesterday. The photos with the article were gorgeous, but apparently 6* with a windchill of -10* isn't quite cold enough to achieve the same results. We had fun but could only freeze the bubbles that we caught on the wand and held for a couple minutes.)

We are going to try the bubbles and boiling water today. It's not nearly as cold as it was yesterday but it will still be fun to try :)

No throwing in the air people are getting burned this way.

Our kids still have school but I cringe at having to send them outside to wait for the bus b/c the wind makes them want to cry. :crying: Today I only sent them out 2 mins b4 the bus came.

Not going to try the boiling water - too warm (I think it feels like 0 right now) did try the bubbles and I got a few to freeze but they needed to sit for quite a while. Kind of cool :)

It is so cold that.. I think the world did some sort of flip flop because it isn't cold here

hahahaha!

It's cold... too cold! Stay warm people. Some NJ schools had delayed opening, but I thought it was a bit odd... we don't have the drastic temps that some have.

I want to try the bubbles!

After seeing, we had to try, too!!

-12* with a -40 windchill... not cold enough, either. Geez, do they put antifreeze in bubble mix? :D But I was too cold to make my own mix and try it again... kiddo thought it was cool, those that did freeze in a few seconds.

Yesterday it was so cold that even after having the van on for 10 minutes the sliding doors wouldn't open, so we sat inside for 10 more minutes until one of them would open. Even after driving the other one wouldn't open. Luckily it was the door of the child who can buckle his own seatbelt, so I could buckle the other one easily

My friend in OH had a car door handle casualty as her hubby was trying to open a frozen door.

There's ice on the INSIDES of the windows and doors here in Maine. A friend of mine in Canada had her tailgate handle break off because of the cold.

I tried the bubble thing with the homemade solution they said they used. It was -15 w/-45 windchill & it didn't work.

Our heat is out, so it's really freaking cold!
