They have blocked access to Imgur in the UK in response to not wanting to comply with recent UK regulations.

- Online Safety Act (OSA). The UK’s new Online Safety Act introduces strict rules around age verification, harmful content, and user safety. Platforms must either comply with new moderation and verification standards or risk penalties.
- Regulatory pressure. The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) had been investigating Imgur’s parent company, MediaLab, over how it handles children’s data and access. Reports suggest the ICO even issued a notice of intent to fine the company earlier in September.
- Commercial decision. Instead of overhauling its service to meet these new requirements, Imgur appears to have taken the simpler route by blocking all UK users. Imgur support messages shared online confirm that uploading and logging in are now disabled in the UK.
