I microwaved my iPhone 4S. :crying: Yup. I did it. By mistake, of course… I'm not THAT stupid.
Just sharing my story to make you all feel better about the stupid things you might have done. LOL!
I was up late a couple of weeks ago, with my rice filled heating pad in one hand and my iPhone in the other. The plan was to heat up the heating pad and plug in the phone. Well…. after I turned on the microwave and then realized I was still holding my heating pad, I looked back at the microwave, and you know the rest. There was a spark just before I pulled open the door…. and it smelled awful. I closed the microwave, went upstairs to bed, and hoped to wake up with it having just been a nightmare. Weird thing is, I didn't freak out, I didn't cry.. nothing. I think I was in shock.
So obviously the phone was not working… brought it to AT&T along with my old 3GS, which thankfully I hadn't gotten rid of. The guy there restored it, so at least I have a phone. Also thankfully I had uploaded most of my photos recently, so I didn't lose much. Of course I didn't buy the insurance, but even if I had, I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't cover nuking your phone. Hahaha! While I was there, he told me about a 4th year surgical resident that he had waited on once who had microwaved her iPhone because she was trying to dry it out after dropping it in water. Really?? I hope she never operates on me! Made me feel better, actually, because at least I did this accidentally!
