I look like I have a bad sunburn...

but in reality, I had some laser treatment done on my face today. My DIL is now in a dermatology group and is doing laser and micro needling, removing age spots, etc. She needed a before and after model in my age range, so I agreed to "go under the knife."

I can't tell you exactly what I had done, but here is a link to their website that explains all the treatments.

I got the works. Except botox. With all my allergy and mass cell issues, no botox. Using a filler made from my own blood was okay, but nothing that was foreign. Lord only knows how my body would react to that when it will attack itself for no good reason.

At this point, the biggest impression I have is that beauty is painful. I was not expecting the level of pain to be as intense as it was in some areas. Of course the laser burns, but it can be extremely "spicy" as my DIL says, but it was nothing compared to the filler around my eyes to help with my dark circles. That was downright painful.

Basically they poke a hole in your face and insert an cannula and then insert the filler in that and push it into your skin as they sculpt the area. Feeling that tube moving around was freaky at best and uncomfortable at worst, and poking the hole hurt like hell. But my DIL gave me higher "cheekbones" that she is sure I am going to love. LOL

The other lasting impression is the smell. They are burning things, so there's that burnt flesh smell that is exactly the same as when you get laser surgery on your eyes. It just stinks in a really bad way.

Currently my face burns exactly like it does when I get a sunburn and the "needling" did give me a headache. Other wise I am right as rain.

Have any of you had any type of skin treatment like this? What did you think of it and what were the results? I would love to learn about your experiences and how they were or weren't beneficial.

I am not certain what to expect, but apparently, I have to go two more times and do the whole thing all over again to get the full effect. I wasn't prepared for that either. LOL Being a model is hard work.

The things we do for the kids! I hope your face feels better soon. At least you'll know what to expect the next times.

I've never had any treatment like that done. I do need to see a dermatologist. After I had radiation, I now how a lovely rash across my chest.

I hope you heal quickly!

Too bad you don't live near Orlando. I personally know a wonderful dermatologist there! Trained at Mayo Clinic in dermatology and dermatopathology (dermatologist that can look at the microscopic scrapings, thus saving time by not having to send them out for a pathologist to look at).

As for the treatments, nope, don't plan on doing them ever. Even though I could go to the above mentioned dermatologist to get them done when I visit them.

I never planned on doing them either. If it wasn't my DIL's business, I wouldn't have done it, but I was willing to help her by being a before and after model for the over 55 crowd.

The photos will be up on social media soon, which will be fun, not, but if it helps, I am fine with it. It's not like anyone will know it is me. Hopefully.

My face is still red today, but doesn't hurt, so that's good. Still not sure I am going to sign up for further treatment though.

You're a good MIL!

I had two people tell me today that despite the redness and swelling, they could see that my cheekbones were higher. LOL
