How will you document 2026?

I vacillate between doing PL-style weekly/monthly layouts and just doing a regular album with monthly recaps for the things I don't have enough to make a page of. I just haven't decided what my plan is for 2026.

Max will graduate from high school, and we will head back to the States for a year-long furlough. I'll probably scrap 2026 in two books: Philippines & US. I just don't know if I want to do a formulaic layout, like pocket pages, or just choose a different template for every page.

I've used Erica's EZ Albums, Cindy's Universal Albums, Misty's Words & Pictures. I always end up a little bored by the end, but if I don't use a system, I struggle to even get started.

I'd love to hear what other people are doing. I'd love to hear if you have any ideas for getting outside of the box regarding pictures or subject matter, too.

Sounds like you have an exciting year ahead of you. I will continue PL in 2026. I think I will keep those layouts simple which is a change I made in my 2025 PL. I will also make more embellished layouts as well. I would like to focus on taking more video and creatively archiving those.

I was considering possibly attempting a pocket album to tell a bit more of my own story in 2026 but I am undecided as of now.

My main scrapping is an annual album for my son that starts on his birthday and ends the night before the next birthday. I'm still going to keep going with that, alongside special event (like my mom's birthday trip) and seasonal (October and December) albums.

My storytelling is somewhat unconventional but it's all about what matters most to us. I have so many pages about playing video games with my son because that's where his heart is right now and almost none of the conventional milestone pages. I just want to look back and see a snapshot of who we were at this moment in time. I mix pocket pages and more traditional pages as needed and have so many double page spreads. Photos + journaling + glitter = perfect

a regular album with monthly recaps for the things I don't have enough to make a page of.

This is how I've been scrapping for years now, with the exception of December, I use to do a traditional page a day for the lead up until Christmas for our activity, then a weekly PL recap, until maybe 3 years ago I started doing more of a Pocket style page for every day or this year it really was like every three days I could get into a page.

I still want to scrap, but I'm just not taking the every day photos like I use to. Now I just laid out my Christmas pages and I think I had more of those than the rest of the month, I think it's important to find the balance that keeps you excited to keep enjoying this hobby so it doesn't seem like work.

Finding ways to streamline, even if that means not scrapping every single photo (which I struggle with), is working for me.

I'm always impressed by the organisation and commitment of those of you who scrap chronogically.

I scrap in a totally higgledy-piggledy way, no rhyme or reason, just whatever takes my fancy when I feel the creative urge.

I am embarrassed to say that I have never ever even printed a digital page.

I find that documenting daily/weekly/monthly life is boring for my life. I've done it in the past but don't plan on doing it again (except DYD).

Even before I did those a few different times, I was more of an event scrapper. Only scrapping the events going on in my life. Now that I'm traveling, that is my focus with scrapping. Still haven't finished scrapping my 3 trips from this page year and I have 3 scheduled for 2026!

I have fallen in love with Cindy's Double Page Album templates. They have been perfect for my trips! I tend to do double pages in the trip albums, at least 2 layouts per tour stop so these are perfect. It makes the albums very cohesive. Her universal templates are good too, I've used quite a few of those when I scrapped some trips for my cousin's family.

I've been doing Project Life for like 15 years and completed maybe three of them... the rest are in various states of "in progress..." Why stop now, lol? I'll probably start up 2026... really need a plan to get to finishing more albums than starting. *sigh*

Not sure what I'm going to do, template wise... waiting to see if the designers come out with something new. :)

I will probably continue to start big projects and not finish them. lol

2025 open projects include: Nov gratitude album, project life weekly- which turned into a monthly recap instead, and a monthly mood album. I’m hopeless.

I would love to be more organized, but it hasn’t happened yet, so….

Luckily, the designer I CT for has been releasing monthly kits for years. I started CT work for her in 2015, so I have a monthly recap LO each month for almost 10 years now!

I think I will be continuing the same. Seems to work for me. Yearbooks and Vacation books. Yearbooks consist of all the daily stuff. The pages don't all match, but once it's printed the books look fine to me! And I'm just happy to have it documented and printed!

I am really looking forward to a new year of challenges here at SS. I did every month in 2025 and got lots of pages done for my books!

Also SS is 20!! Exciting!

LOL, this is exactly me!

I came here looking for this discussion! I love the idea of a PL type project but I've never managed to see it through. I have started many times and made it a few weeks before I lose my mojo. Do you have any tips on how to keep going and keep taking the photos once real life kicks in after January? If anyone would like to buddy up to keep us on track I'd definitely be up for that!

Love this thread! Wish I could "like" each comment. I took a long break from scrapping but am back to attempt PL 2026! I've completed several years in the past so I can do it! I think I am going to do monthly pages - I don't want to overwhelm myself when I am freshly reentering the hobby!

The only time I actually ever finished a yearly album was the year that I did monthly pages instead of trying to keep up weekly ones. I think I might do 2 pages per month this year.
